This was a great fight to watch. The way Choco broke down Rey with body shots especially in the early rounds and then just relentlessly punished him later on was masterful. The increased weight of Rey and his limited ability at this level just added to his woes.

Boxing Andy Stone What do you mean limited ability? Martinez has incredible ability. He was coming up two weight classes to fight one of the best fighters in boxing. Gonzalez simply has a granite chin and extreme determination. With any other opponent, not named Gonzalez, Martinez would have easily won IMO.

Chocolatito is a living and on active hall of famer. Respect for Julio Cesar Martinez he behaved like a warrior what you might expect from a Mexican. Despite the adversity and obvious mismatch in the technical department never stoped fighting.

I'm glad Martinez hung in there because there was one round that ended he told his corner he was tired and something about his hand. There should only be one loss on Chocolatito's record. I thought he got robbed in the first Rungvisai fight and the second Estrada fight. The only disappointment was the second Rungvisai fight, because he looked like he didn't wanna be there. Other than that, Chocolatito is an amazing fighter. He is the definition of a throwback boxer.

Dmar82 Making excuses for two of the fights Gonzalez lost to Srisaket Sor Rungvisai is petty. I watched both of those fights and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai won both of them and the second one by brutal KO. The judges also saw the first fight for Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. So, your opinion is only that, an opinion. The Estrada fight, in my opinion, should have been a draw. But, again, the judges saw it for Estrada. I accept that.

@@ottmarmontes Watch the first fight again. No need to watch the rematch because Rungvisai KO Chocolatito. In the first fight, Chocolatito was accurate with his punches and he outlanded Rungvisai. Rungvisai was using his head to hit Chocolatito. Listen to the crowd after that BS decision. Most ringside experts thought Chocolatito won that first fight.

@@dmar82 Most people thought González lost to Carlos Cuadras. Listen to the crowd after that decision. Cuadras clearly out boxed González in rounds 1, 4, 5 and 6. In the second half of the fight Cuadras started to hurt González. By the end González was getting his body rocked from the waist up. Cuadras disfigured González's face.

I saw the loss coming after the 3rd round. I like Martinez but he has to much machismo. He didn't attack the older fighters body what so ever and was strictly head hunting the whole fight. Meanwhile Chocolatito started attacking the body early and opened up the attacks up top. Martinez wouldn't cover up and it cost him in the end. Any hit after landing continuously will cause damage. Hats off to Chocolatito.

I said it when the fight was announced that I thought this was a mistake for Martinez. Short straight accurate punches almost always beat looping punches. Martinez thought his power was going to scare Chocolatito but it’s not the first time this little legend has seen a Mexican puncher. People in the know knew that Martinez didn’t have a chance. Even Reynoso said before the fight that they wished Martinez would win but a loss to a legend is a great learning experience. When your corner says something like that you know they are not expecting you to win 😁

Muy Buena pelea pero El Chocolatito c/ su experiencia lo desmantelo,Julio Cesar Dio la batallas nada de que avergozarse peleo y peleo hasta El final,como muchos mencionaron tiene que mejorar su defensa y eliminar ciertos malos habitos como bajar las manos constantemente,invitar a su Oponente a golpearlo para probar que?Boxear mas inteligente.El muchacho tiene cria pero c/ ese estilo de pelea del mas Macho no le veo mucho futuro excepto daños fisicos( Cerebro).Entiendo tomo la pelea como reemplazo pero la verdad no estaba preparado para un Boxeador como El Chocolatito Gonzalez un Gran Campeon.

Chocolate es un animal demasiado experiencia chocolates de los peleadores que pelea como sí fuera su última pelea la verdad me gustó su disciplina muy bien preparado venía para el combate le pegaron buenos guamazos pero fue se mantuvo se mantuvo no le dio chance a Martínez que siguiera dominando en algunos Golpes en el principio sí lo tambaleaba cuando lo golpeava Martínez a Román pero Román no aflojava al cuerpo y así se mantenía para adelante mantenía su ritmo esquivando Román y ahí Román Román es así va para delante para delante Eso me gusta del chocolate así debe ser un guerrero siempre porque la mejor defensa siempre es el ataque de ahí para más solo los maestros y lo particular sigue siendo mi favorito Rey Martínez tiene una bravura única y un aguante único Cuánto es de admiración no le pegó cualquiera sino Román González de los mejores en su peso tienda y se expuso y no lo lograron tumbar hay que admirar esto r Martínez a Román González todo ya sabemos Qué es el mejor junto con gallo Estrada
