This game is a "hidden gem" by choice of its elitist punkass developer who only wants people to play "his way", probably thinks Battletoads and western Streets of Rage 3 on Mania were too easy and developed the game with one hand.

@@zenksren8206 Come on now, I barely know my way around and got the hang of it. You have choices of how you want to use the moves, but just like most games, there's always going to be one way that simply gets the job done better. Though I will say that it is a hidden gem by choice partially due to its difficulty. If you cannot handle the challenge, then you will most likely not get attached. This game has a higher skill ceiling than most beat em ups and rewards you for understanding its mechanics from a fundamental level and beyond, just like any other beat em up and even fighting games in that regard.

I know right? It’s a shame Scott pilgrim beat em up gets all the attention. But hot take I thought that game was ass, the first level is like half an hour, and for most of the game you’re very limited in terms of moves you can do leaving it so you can only really do stuff by the end of the game, but by then you don’t need to since you probably will be able to one shit everything. Not to mention there’s grinding in that game. Idk how people love that game so much, sure beautiful game with amazing music but that’s about it. Fight N rage while I’d say is lesser on its presentation, actually makes me want to play the game.

I know this has been said a million times, but there is something about pixel art / oldschool style beat em ups that look so good. I love Fighting games from that era too, MVC2, Vampire savior, KoF 98 etc etc. Something about that era is just so nice to look at and satisfying to play.

These enemies started to show intelligence. They try to break your combo by attacking you immediately. Smart move! I am sure that it has something to do with unfair difficulty.

The best thing about this game is that it is very deep for a beat em up with a combo system. It actually matters how you attack and combo opponents to get points for extends. All 3 characters are completely different in their whole gameplan.

If people think its bad because of its appearance the surely are retarded and miss out on one of the greatest. I rank this, Streets of Fury and Streets of Rage 4 among the best new beat em ups.

Wow, these guys love their beat-em-ups/fighting games...so many references in Gal's move list alone, not to mention all the baddies! Streets of Rage was a perfect template to reference for the base of baddies. I especially enjoyed the dapper dobermen w/the Dudley moveset. Hope this game gets ported to Switch soon; this is a must-buy for me!

This game is a love letter to the 90's beat'em ups, many references, many inspirations on enemies and bosses, but with a fast paced gameplay and quite deep combo system, one of the few games on steam I made sure to get all achievements (rank s with all characters in score attack was a pain, though).

Beat-em-ups like these make me wish there were unconventional, but inventive ways mooks and bosses would easily beat the player. Here's a list of ideas: 1.Organized team attacks by mooks. These can happen either by command of a boss or an elite mook, and maybe performed independantly by a team of elites. 2. AoE hazards. Mooks that throw Molotov cocktails or grenades. 3. Background hazards. Pitfalls, traps, falling objects, etc. 4. Bosses with ways to fully counter specific player attacks. Not every boss can be approached with the same attack method. For example, at least one boss could grab players from the air and throw them down, making jump-ins impossible. 5. Bosses with audible one-liners that not only gives a clue as to what AI pattern they're in, but also pisses off the player. They could be saying "I'll take your quarters, bitch!" or something demeaning like that.

2 and 3 were very common in quarter cruncher beat em ups and they were broken as hell. They didn't want you stretching your credits for longer than a minute.

Whenever I play on Normal Speed, it's kind of slow to me and I haven't even tried Fast Speed. I think I'm just used to Turbo Speed. Playing on UNFAIR mode with Turbo Speed, it's the real deal, yet it's really pulverizing me every time.

@Amazing Doorbob Which spinning pile driver are you talking about, the ninja's or the bull's? If your talking about the ninja's, I do believe its a 360 motion or down, up, forward, or down, forward, up and then the special button, for the bull, just grab an enemy and jump. The bull does have a secret move, how you do it is that you do his uppercut, hold the attack button as he's coming down and when he touches the ground, release the attack button and he'll do another uppercut.

The Dobermans need definetely a nerf,even on normal difficulty the only way to defeat them,is using the strategy he uses here. If you try to fight them all at once,you have no change. Also,the Servant/Attary bosses are stupendously OP. They do a ton of damage,can reach you from the other side of the screen with their jump attack,you can´t use throws on them and they have this annoying blocking abillity.2 out 3 times,when you attack the,they just block it.

It's not unfair, everything is doable without dying. This mode just has a ton of enemies so it's easy to get overwhelmed if you aren't careful.

This looks fun, only thing that bugs me a little is how the enemies 'rotate' into a standing position as their getup animation. It would be more accurate to the era and would actually look better to just have no getup animation at all, or maybe one frame in a 'getting up' pose (though obviously thats a lot of work for every enemy type - no animation would've been fine)
