I sure as hell wasn't even close to landing it with my PE 1.5 on a light shore jigging setup (not to mention liking to fish alone like you). Ended up getting spooled. But it was an unforgettable strike. Glad you were relatively ready and managed to land that beast!

@@BaccillusAnthracis yes there are a lot of Tunas in the Mediterranean Sea. With unexpected I mean I wasn't targeting Tuna and this fish was completely not in my mind as a possible catch though I knew it is possible. Personally Im happy about this dream catch, but honestly I don't want to experience it again. It's a fight at the limit with an opponent much stronger as yourself, I left the battle as a winner but I had scars.

What a fight !!! Impressive 😮 💪🏼. I am curious to know what is your « go to » set up? Like favorite knots, braid to leader, jig knot, length of leader line and more ? Any video on that ? James

Hi James, no video yet online regarding this topic. My general Shore Jigging setup is a PE 3 braid, a 40 lbs leader connected by an FG-Knot. The length of the leader is always as long as possible usually about 4,20 m. To tie the solid ring to the leader I use a Palomar knot with a chain knot finish. Very strong and reliable setup. Hallo Chris, ich bin kein Experte (das hat auch einen Grund) für Tunas, allerdings würde ich mal so grob sagen das das Frühjahr und der Frühsommer wahrscheinlich die beste Zeit sind. Fangen kann man sie mittlerweile an den gesamten Mittelmeerküsten, allerdings ☝️ist es in vielen Ländern für Amateurangler verboten! Soweit ich weiß ist es nur in Montenegro und der Türkei erlaubt, in den anderen Ländern muss man vorsichtig sein, wenn man Tunas gezielt fangen will. Viele Grüße Max
