Those funny wings with the thing with the other thing.....you know the one. Well those things actually have official / unofficial names! It's especially helpful if you check out the NMS coordinate exchange to go looking for something specific.
This guide will focus on all the names of the components that a fighter has. So sit back, relax, and find out what the actual name of those wings you love so much are.

Howdy There WBG, It's Internet People Again My main ship is a Mirror Finish Chrome, Hotrod With Starchaser wings, & Rocket Engine (Single Thruster) Named it the RazorBack

The first starship I owed was a fighter I named "The Space Sparrow" It was a red, white, and chrome Jet with mecha wings, and a single thruster. That fighter, before the 4.0 update, was my "Do all" ship. It could battle, had the cargo space for resource hunting, and a good hyperdrive range. I finished the Atlas path with that ship. Sadly, I parted with it two days ago after 615 game hours of service. I took it to the solar system that I call home, where I first found it, took a goodbye picture, and scrapped to make room for the twitch drop ship.

Great video Taylor, my favorite fighter style is Stubby, single thruster, vector wings. But I've recently been branching out and really enjoying it, I recommend all of us try a ship style we have never really messed around with... It's fun to do.

Great video. Just coming back after a long break. Played on Xbox last time and will be starting PC this round. We are indeed out the there. My favorite fighter is a stubby nose with halo wing. Found a very unique color scheme in Euclid that has that rusted metal/dark purplish color.

Yo whisky, great vid and overall explanation! I'm pretty sure the fighters at 6:38 and 7:15 actually have firefly boosters, not starscreams. It's not a big deal at all and I confuse the 2 sometimes myself as they look so similar. I just thought I would clear that up a little to make it easier for anyone searching for such designs on a ship. Happy hunting everyone!

Wish there was a 4th thruster style.... single thruster's exposed ductwork on top bugs me, looks vulnerable to an asteroid strike boxy thrusters tend to look too tall with many nose types. triple thrusters, same issue of looking too tall in many cases Ideal 4th type? maybe twin engines, low profile. like the tail end of a f-18 or similar jet. shaped to pair well with bubble canopy and long/needle/etc nose fronts.

neither no one 'agreed' to anything. a bunch of the names are in common use, a bunch have alternate names than in this video depends who you follow

They def. seem to originate from the NMS Coordinate Exchange though -- which isn't necessarily the end-all be-all, but it's a very high traffic area for travelers....so most will use these names. I'm thinking there's a dark room in a back alley where a group of secret folks meet and decide these things. 😂
