A modern version of this with dlc would be amazing. "Sega Fighters Megamix" Virtua on robots, yakuza characters, more sonic characters, Virtua fighter 5 characters, fv 2 characters, all the Virtua cop ones, space channel 5, streets of rage, golden axe, my god, so many Sega franchises lend themselves to it.

They should pull a PlayStation Classic in reverse: whereas Sony crippled their own games using the PAL versions, Sega should include the Model 2 version of a game when there's a Model 2 version of it. (ex: Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA, etc.) Make modern gamers wonder why the hell people thought the PlayStation was more powerful.

I remember being happy when I heard Fighting Vipers 2 was coming out on Dreamcast... Because I felt this meant we weren't too far away from Fighters Megamix 2 on Dreamcast... Perhaps we would have gotten such a game if the Dreamcast hadn't died... The original came out when I was 18 or so... Oh man... the hours of fun I had with this game. I was a Virtua Fighter player, but I chose the Fighting Vipers mode because I could slam people through the fences on a finishing move... And then I found out it, if you were cable to launch your opponent just right with a finishing blow, you could get them to land on their back right on the fence and you'd hear a little crunching noise as they stayed there... From then on, I constantly tried to do this... And it was very difficult to pull off(at least for me), but I was so entertained by this that I wouldn't give up.

I love Fighters Megamix but the only reason I kept playing it many times over until VF3 on the Dreamcast came along. This is because I used megamix as a stopgap and training ground for VF3. In fact, I use to go back and forth between Megamix and Virtua Fighter 2, which helped considerably. What's funny is when you finally figure out how to play Virtua Fighter 3, it completely changed your gameplay style on VF2 as it made you realise how insanely deep VF2 really is. Just in case - this is not to say I cannot play Fighting Vipers. In fact, I can rock Fighting Vipers and enjoyed playing it, but compared to Last Bronx and VF, I couldn't see myself playing it repetitively like those other games.

One of my favourite 3D fighting games and arguably the best on Saturn just because of all the content it contains. I still play this regularly and it still looks great with all the lighting effects and the plane taking off which was missing in Fighting Vipers. Perhaps its greatest strength was not having an arcade version, as Sega didn't seem to understand the difference between the home and arcade market's most of the time with very little content added. Yet this is full to the brim with fighters and stages plus great cameos from many others such as Janet from Virtua Cop or fighting the Daytona Car. My only complaint is why is there no Sonic in this? Overall this was Sega at their best and a glimpse at what could have been and it would be years before Sonic and Sega All Star Racing Transformed proved once again how great these Sega crossovers can be

One of the things our generation enjoyed was seeing these kind of games for the 1st time with nothing prior to them able to compare and we felt the excitement of video game evolution (2d to 3d, fmv's, etc.) and this is smth that goes beyond generations of consoles its how the game is presented and perceived by the player that creates true excitement. Smth equal to this for ppl today would be getting yourself in the game but i feel we have some time ahead of us until this is fully done...we were lucky!

Precisely because of all the points you've made, this is my fave fighting game on the Saturn. Granted I'm more of a casual gamer. This game is fast, full of variety, and a few jokes. VF2 feels like driving a boat to me... a pretty, hi-rez, 60 fps boat.

Just found this channel. This was actually the first video I watched today. I grew up with Sega. I was trying to find that one game where you can play as a race car in a fighting game. I went ahead and subscribed, keep it up!🤩

I always found it hilarious and awesome that you get to play as the Daytona car in this game. I need to track down a copy of this game sometime.

Being a lifelong Sega fan, I loved this game. I have to be honest, though....I was a bit disappointed that this wasn't super hi rez like VF2 was. It still looked great, of course, but I preferred the sharpness over the shading and lighting. EDIT: Another great video, by the way

One of my favorite Saturn games. If Sega were to make a Saturn Mini (probably never will) this should be one of the games included imho.

Fighters Megamix doesn't get brought up often enough. When Sega re-released Sonic Fighters & Fighting Vipers I was hoping Fighter's Megamix would have been next. It's a gem that deserves Sega's attention for a remaster, remake, or sequel. Seeing the Daytona car in action again makes my inner-child squeal.

There was nothing more satisfying than charging up your attack and finally punching your opponent through a fence at the end of the round, as the physics would make them fly half way across the screen haha! Played the hell out of this game back in the day and there were certainly elements of the game that I preferred over Virtua Fighter 2. The stiff animation on the Kumachan always cracked me up. Good times, great video as always.

lol, I love the timing of this upload. My copy I ordered from Amazon just arrived today. I was playing Fighting Vipers and I could have sworn the Daytona USA car was an unlockable. But I was wrong, and remembered enjoying the hell out of this game when I rented it from Blockbuster as a kid. And this one has the car, which is what I was originally thinking of :)

Don't know if it was the same in the US, but certainly in the UK it was rumoured for ages that Virtua Fighter 3 would be coming to the Saturn (even to the point of there being signs up in HMV if I remember correctly...) - Fighters Megamix came out instead and I think a lot of people were disappointed. Personally, I thought this was much better and still enjoy it more than the eventual VF3 home port of VF3 Team Battle on the Dreamcast.

Dude I Love this game. And its a concept, even today, I think sega should consider to retake Imagine a Fighters Megamix 2 with caracteres from All Virtua Fighters Series, All Fighting Vipers and also Last Bronx, Sonic The Fighters and whatever sega releasead as a Fighting arcade at time Nowdays, with 100 Gb blu-rays you can load The shit out of content without problems. Imagine in The unlockable (or dlc) characters People from Sreeets Of Rage, Shinobi, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Phantasy Star and other "Non Fighting" sega games. This could easily become sort of the Sega's Super Smash Bros. The company have no idea how valuable their IPs are.

8:38 Hornet is one of those secret fighters that plays like Bahn. The trick is that he has to rip off the hood so that only the engine is exposed. There is a downside, though: no armor.
