Even though I like her design... I pretty much hated Sophie in every game. lol. I particularly hate the way casual players use her like some generic 2D fighting game character (because it's insulting to everything SoulCalibur is). 😡 But sometimes... rarely... Sophie players can actually surprise me when they use her in an unorthodox way. Most of the time, of course, they just spam strings... so they're easy to predict and punish. PREDICTIBO

I still feel like I'm "getting there" with Ivy... more potential, she has. (Yoda voice). But yeah, I've run into *too many* online Ivy's that just spam her *5* best moves repeatedly, lol. They are easy to predict and beat of course, but I can imagine even those types of Ivys give casual players a rough time. I might have to make an Ivy punish video for this reason. Thanks for the idea and comment. lol

I love your Ivy. Quick question though. Blocking in this game seems bad. So is it always better to Sidestep or continuously keep attacking specific ways. I’m asking because I see you take a lot of hits instead of blocking.
@FightersGen6 жыл бұрын
It depends on the situation. I'm still learning to react to things (the game's only been out a month) so of course I'm still experimenting with sidestepping and everything else. Reversal Edge is a great option when you're not sure what to expect. Blocking is good... I just choose to get hit sometimes because I quite enjoy sidestepping and don't mind taking hits to lesrn what works and what doesn't. lol. When I do this I'm usually going for something in particular, like stage positioning or a Lethal Hit combo.
@ElectrifiedMann6 жыл бұрын
Fighters Generation Ah okay I see. Coming from DOA and Tekken I’m still new to how this game plays and it gets annoying when people rush you down and you have to get up specific ways. Also with no frame data in the game it’s always hard determining when it’s best to attack and defend.
@FightersGen6 жыл бұрын
I know the feeling of getting rushed down... and one thing that will help is a proper back dash. It seems to work differently for different characters, but I do Ivy's backstep quite a bit in the first match. It's like a Korean backdash cancel, but without the down input. Just find the right timing and you can avoid a lot of attacks and pressure just by backing up. Also remember to periodically guard while you're doing so if you need to. Defense in this game is deep and definitely requires practice and time. 😉

@@FightersGen You are taunting in almost every match in this video. Even T-bags. I'm not really a SC player. But I can see that you are decent with Ivy. All this taunting and childish behavior makes it hard for me to admit that you are skilled. If this makes you happy, keep on it. But I look down on this behavior.
@FightersGen6 жыл бұрын
@@MW-ei1fu I understand your point... and agree to an extent, but hear me out. The taunt cancel I used at 1:11 was staple strategy and reading the opponent. I use this when fighting against seemingly desperate / overly-aggressive players because it actually works. It's creating the illusion of an opening that isn't there. I also use taunt cancels in Garou: MOTW and Samurai Shodown 2 because it exists in those games for a reason. I agree with you on T-bags 100%... I don't appreciate T-bagging either, but sometimes it's hard to resist not doing it back to players who've done it to you in prior matches (which occasions you aren't seeing in this video because those matches aren't posted). And for the record, at 4:21 I was clearly trying to go down the ladder... 😉 Seriously though, sometimes it's just for fun, other times what "looks like" taunting is actually more like high-level canceling... something that competitive SoulCalibur players have been doing ever since the first game. Repeatedly canceling an unblockable, for example, can lead to confusing your opponent or buffering the animation into something else. It's also a useful for testing the quality of your internet connection when playing online, since it requires a very fast input. Interestingly, the most skilled players I've run into in SC6 usually do the exact same thing at some point in the match. There are actually special animations and flame effects that only can be done by taunt canceling. 🔥 In my new Astaroth video (Ranked Maggots Vol.2), check out the set I had with the Tira player. Lots of cancels & taunting from far away which actually lead to some keepaway mindgames. In closing, it's the "freedom of creativity" that games like SoulCalibur and Tekken provide that make them my favorite fighting games of all time. Other games that don't give players as much gameplay freedom are never as fun to me. Thanks for reading... and also thanks for bringing this up. :)
