This was Canelo's 1st fight at 160. Canelo will only get better at 160 once he gets more experienced here. GGG is the bigger guy who is used to fighting at 160. Yet, he couldn't Ko and hurt a guy who fought his debut fight at 160. Even if you think Canelo won, I can't believe some people think that GGG will actually do better in a rematch.

i've never heard of a rematch clause that is triggered by the challenger. the guy who has the belts to defend going into the fight is always the one who has the option of triggering any rematch clause, and that is always after a competitive loss. wlad for example, lost his titles to fury and had the option to exercise the rematch clause. had fury lost or drawn, he wouldn't be able to trigger any rematch clause demanding another fight. this is the weirdest thing i've ever heard where the challenger who receives a draw on the scorecards can unilaterally trigger a rematch with the champion. that even makes this stink more like a golden boy fix after all the weird scorecards handed in for canelo's past fights.

Your right. Golden Boy Promotions negotiated this, I would assume, in the Fight Contract. Not wise on GGG's behalf. I Feel, Alvarez is being given Boxing Royalty status which, I don't believe he has earned yet, he very well may one day but not yet.
