We are debating this fight because of the way Lara fought .. he talked all that shit and went in there to run he literally ran. He will put his has down and take of running footwork isn't only running or moving around all night .. these ain't the amateurs that's why you'll never see a Cubans headline ppvs. I think Lara just killed it for all Cubans. I watched the fight live and you could hear canelos shots from the lower floor every time he landed. I've seen Lara use footwrork, tonight he used it more than any other fight when someone is running all night and throwing two to three pot shots a round you deserve to loose for trying to win solely on points like a fucking amateur. You don't have to stand in front of ur opponents but fuck make the fight eneteresting it's still entertainment and its a full contact sport I believe fighters should always be looking for the finish in a smart way like lomanchanko, Garcia, golovkin, canelo, even mayweather will try to go for a ko once in a while. These Cuban fighter are nothing but point fighters and there is nothing wrong with that because that's what they are bread to do. But don't cry robbery in a prize fight when you choose to fight like an amateur while the other guy is trying to make the fight.

115-113 Canelo! Aggression and Effective punches > Movement and Jabs. When you fight on the back foot you can't be taking the more effective shots and not returning with counters. The right hook was there all night for Lara but he didn't use it. He wasn't countering like Mayweather does, He wasn't using his jab then firing a bomb like Ali. He wasn't forcing the action or doing enough. Canelo was constantly chasing him down and landing The better shots.

Opinion of who won aside, this was the most boring PPV fights of this decade. I do not want to see a rematch. Lara always complains that he doesn't get enough credit and that he isn't as famous as he should be. Well, when you have the exact opposite of a crowd pleasing style, you will not get famous. His style actually made me appreciate Mayweather's style. I'm pretty sure he didn't gain any fans from this fight. I don't know what he was thinking. I'm sure Showtime will replay the fight in the next couple weeks and more people will see that Lara was literally running circles around the ring and backing up the entire fight. Yes he landed a lot more JABS but the power shots were lopsided in favor of Canelo. Almost all Canelo's power shots were to the body which means he learned from the Mayweather loss. When fighting a fast and defensive boxer don't head hunt and attack the body . Just want to share a few thoughts, and I'd be open to discussion with facts with anybody that knows a bit of boxing, for real, not just watching the "big" names a couple of times a year: 1) You can't convince the judges running like that, one thing is to move aways from punches, hitting and not getting hit, but the way Lara was running is simply and plain ridiculous; specially after talking so much crap. 2) At the end of the day, this is business, it's about selling tickets and PPV shows; a "fighter" like Lara would NEVER be that kind of boxer, period. 3) Perhaps Lara could have done much better (even win) if he decided to stand in front longer, but it was very clear that he felt Canelo's power and decided to run faster. The fight was really close, for sure, but the judges will always favor the guy that is proposing, the aggressivenes accounts for more than 50% when deciding who gets the 10 for each round. 4) Rematch? really? what for? Lara needs to change a few things if he really wants his "american dream" so bad. Here in America we don't run away from situations, we deal with them. I would't pay to watch Lara until he can prove that he can take punches like a man.

Gotta be honest, Lara didn't look sharp most of the fight. Lara had success when he kept the fight in the middle of the ring and kinda gave away some rounds. Erislandy got back into his bad habit of backing himself into the ropes and letting Canelo pound his body. Lara could have won this fight had he built off his early lead but he let himself get bullied for the second half of the fight and that's what ultimately ended up in him losing.

All i know is the judge looks after 4 things 1: effective aggressivness. 2: ring generalship thats tricky one. 3: who connects the cleaner punches.. 4: Defence. As i see it it should been a draw or slightly favour to Lara considering ring general ship, connected punches and defence ! but hey every one got ther OWN opinion just as I ... :)

Lara is a good fighter, we can't argue that. He made Canelo miss a lot, and this may just open up more doors for him. But, let's be honest. This is boxing, you can't just run and not land. Canelo chased him the whole time and when he caught him he landed the more powerful punches. I thought he won, but I was really liking Lara's style. If Lara had just ran a little less, or combined the movement with punches, he would have won.

If this was judged with amateur boxing point-system, then yes Lara won. If this was a professional FIGHT between two boxers, then yes Canelo won. You don't win a fight running and baby tapping 12 rounds straight. Also what's up with the Mayweather comparison to Lara, those two shouldn't even be put in the same sentence. Lara hardly threw a good counter and always flew unnecessarily twenty feet away. Difference between Lara and Mayweather is that Mayweather knows how to fight in close range and actually throw solid counters. Long story short, Lara is a boring fighter and Alvarez put up a better fight performance.

As I see it, moving in boxing is sidestepping, bending at the waist, moving the head or slipping punches. Not doing this for a few seconds, then taking off circling the ring, away from your opponent. And NO infighting whatsoever, just clinching like Lara did. A good example is Rigondeaux. Risky, but not boring the audience to death.

I'm not a boxing expert, but in my own personal opinion I think Canelo's victory was legit. Because of Lara's style he was running most of the fight landing some good punches but didn't really put him in trouble. I saw pretty much a tie during the first 5 or 6 rounds of the fights. After that, Canelo progressively dominated the fight, not by a lot, but a noticeable difference. Lara is a very good boxer, but to me you have to convince and make the judges know you are better by throwing and landing effective punches and running less. I know, that is Lara's style, but to me he needed to do a little more, he even said that was the fight of his life, and i think that is NOT how you fight it. For some reasons it looks like the judges don't like to count body punches which Lara received in a good amount but those really hurt. Again, I'm not an expert on the subject, and this is my personal opinion so just express yourself with respect and enjoy the sport.

People, this aint the amateurs. It doesnt matter if Lara landed more, Canelo landed the more damaging punches, specially those body shots, in the pros wins the one who punish more his opponent. Also running and throwing pitty-pat jabs, pivot and running aint slick or sweet science.
