I was at Hawkstone around 1984/5 ish when Dave Thorpe was at the height of his racing career - a bunch of us kids had camped out and were up early to get a decent spot and bugger me, if we didn't run into him walking the track. Really lovely bloke who made our day. If I remember right Eric Geboers broke his foot on one of the doubles. Great times, Harkan Carlqvist, Andre Malherbe, Thorpe and the occasional visiting Yank running 500cc two strokes through a cloud of Castrol R - heavenly :-)
