Having fought Stage 4 cancer for nearly 2 years, now, I support this research. I wish for no one to suffer from cancer.

The major problem of animal experimentation is that the results obtained in animals do not guarantee its repeatability in humans. Half of the drugs tested on animals do not work the same way in humans. But the battle for reduction and replacement of animals in research is commendable.

It's quite misleading to say that mice are the best experimental test subjects, when they are so different to humans. There are thousands of people willing to help drug research. The most convenient would be nearer the truth

Does the undergraduate course in Natural Sciences (Biological) require students to test on animals? If so, in which modules?

Testing on animals saves many human lives which in my opinion makes it acceptable

That comment is double edge sword. Yes it has saved humans but at the same times it has indirectly killed millions of people. As a person in the science community, there are several studies that have revolutionized medicine because of they used human subjects (with of course, limiting harm to those humans). One famous example is about CHF. CHF Is also known as Congestive Heart Failure which affects approximately 5 Million people in the US. To treat this condition a very common drug known as digoxin was used because it was believed be helpful, that's what animal experiment showed. Then a trial known as DIG came out and showed that digoxin actually did not help, it actually did NOTHING. Following, several large human based trials have shown different classes of drugs to actually help humans. So it's a double sword, if we had known that digoxin was not helpful earlier on than definitly human lives could have been saved or at helped. Overall, I think we have come far enough to learn that testing on animal is not necessary.

What makes a human life more important than an animals life? These animals are being forced to do these experiments against their free will. If it's so humane, why not just experiment on humans? There's no excuse to cause suffering to an animal, regardless of what its for.

Ellie The amount of human lives that get saved through medicines discovered by animal research makes it invaluable even if it isn't fun to think about

Death is part of life. As sad as it is. But you would rather have a mouse die than your closest relative at the end of the day.

what about testing drugs on rats and the trying to test those on humans. aren't there big differences that will effect the way the drugs effect them.

Mice are just as sensitive and just as understanding of pain and death as us. This is wrong beyond wrong to discriminant beings on how they were born into this world, to curse them, to make them live a life of pain you have no right to do that. Imagine if one of them was you? And this is absolutely pointless! How meany years have you been doing this?! How meany mice were monitored and tested? What understanding did you gain from that!? Non, You have it filmed on over 1000 taps how cancer develops in mice and in people You seen it millions of times. Whats the point of doing more? I was relived to see they have somewhat of decent living space. But this is so wrong JUST STOP Stop torching them and stop forcing them to die in so much pain! 🦭
