SF2 the Animated Movie: I remember finding it on VHS. I found it at Suncoast. Absolutely loved it. Darkstalkers OVA: beautiful art style, taps into the series, and its characters. It flows like water, it is a masterpiece. Street Fighter: I remember seeing this in theaters. Fun cast. Crazy plot. But it was fun. M. Bison totally takes over every scene. It is one of those films that stays with you Mortal Kombat : That film was a masterpiece. It set the bar high. Cast was excellent. Fights were insane. Goro was huge. Shang Tsung gave you the chills. Plus that soundtrack Fatal Fury the Motion Picture: Studio G-1. A phenomenal film. A bit of its own thing, but it blended ideas from the game series. But it was so so good. SFII V: Ryu, Ken & Chun Li travel the world together. This series was so good. An origin story with a fun twist. Street Fighter Alpha: Sweet animation, plus fun seeing the gang together. But that bad guy, and Shun. Yeah.. it was weird SFIV: The Ties that Bind: Adapted the game story okay. But the animation was super wonky. It did not feel finished. SF: Assassin's Fist: So damn good. Nails the energy, every character, mood, and music. Excellent MK Legacy: A web series starring a very cool cast, using ideas from the games. Excellent choreography, characters, and the journey. Surprisingly sweet. Two seasons. A must watch MK reboot: First brutal, second sick, third it was pretty cool to see where they wanted to go with it. But it ends way too soon. It felt like they were building up to something. The duds: Tekken KoF SF: Legend of Chun Li MK Annihilation Uh.. yeah I don't know what happened Tekken ova: It tried to mash so many ideas together. Music was great. But I'm not sure what it was trying to be. Animation looked pretty good. It was just weird Dead or Alive: Um. I'm not sure what it was

The Street Fighter Alpha anime sucked ass, but _HOLY SHIT_ was Akuma awesome in that movie. Sagat is played by legendary Native American actor Wes Studi, who's been in films such as _Last of the Mohicans,_ _Mystery Men,_ _Avatar,_ and a ton of others. Man's a living legend. The original Mortal Kombat film pitted Liu Kang against a nameless Jamaican guy, yet somehow that fight - that didn't even include a character who was part of the series - had more gravity, energy and just downright awesomeness than both Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat Annihilation. To this day I want that Tiger/Panther dude on the roster of an MK game.

"Street Fighter" (1994) is a good-bad movie, as opposed to "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" (2009) which was a radioactive turd. No joke, one of the best things about the first live-action movie that I'm not sure was touched upon was the soundtrack if you are into the gold era of hip hop. Nas, Ras Kass, Public Enemy, Anotha Level, LL, Ice Cube & The Pharcyde all feature on it, just to name a few. Also, the animated movie still set the bar for SF adaptations; my first exposure to it was a bootleg tape of the uncensored widescreen Japanese version that a friend lent me when I was in high school in 1994). Thanks to that, I've preferred re-watching it in Japanese with the original OST. You never forget your first Chun-Li shower scene. ^_^

For the animated content episode, you guys could look at stuff that got it right: SF2 the movie SF2 V Darkstalkers Fatal Fury OAVs And those that got it...funky: Art of Fighting Samurai ShoDown anime Original Tekken OAV You could also discuss your feelings on the upcoming Netflix Tekken anime, not sure when that's supposed to come out. Do you guys have any animated adaptations you'd love to see happen? Killer Instinct could be incredibly fun animated, and a journeying Soul series show with multiple seasons would be fantastic; start off from Soul Blade, build up the rise and fall of Siegfried, etc I'm a huge Darkstalkers fan, but there's SO. MUCH. LORE and world building that almost never gets talked about. There's a great ol' translated document floating around that gets into stuff like the political situation in the human world on whether Catwoman are considered human and deserve human rights, there's stuff detailing all the stuff going on in Makai Kingdom and why the pressure gets to Morrigan and she just wants to focus on having fun. It also shows how morally evil and mercenary most Dark Hunters (like BB Hood are) they don't care about saving people the way Donovan does, they're made of the worst of the worst. Darkstalkers is made for long form storytelling via an animated series, comics or novels, it'd be fun to see that. Anyway, that's just me rambling, cheers on a great episode guys!

For my money it's the best one. director Corey Yuen (The Transporter) is a legit HK stunt legend, Kane Kosugi is an electrifying performer, better than cocaine-era Van Damme and better than Robin Shou could muster in an early 90's no-budget Hollywood production, (But if you still miss him, he has a fun bit part at the beginning) a great villain turn by Eric "Best of The Best" Roberts, and all the actors who had to train were convincing. The movie *looked* gorgeous, with a bright, fun color palette, awesome sets and locations and mostly game-accurate costumes. Yes it was silly but so is the game. And it was silly on purpose; you laughed at jokes that actually landed, not at so-bad-it's-good incompetence.

I heard that a Streets of Rage movie is in development as we speak. Don't know how it's going to go, but I'm hoping they put in these Easter Eggs: - Adam's Bonsais at his house with pictures of Skates/Sammy and a young Cherry Hunter - Blaze's hobby for Lambada - Axel visiting an 80s arcade with the Winners don't do drugs on the arcade screens - Phone Booths having pipes, pepper spray, apples(?), And steel bats in them when they get destroyed. - The Pine Pot... what else can be said? - References to Yuzo Koshiro. Either in music or shout out to a Club Poster where he is a DJ visiting Woodoak. - The Amusement Park from SoR2 - The Bar where Barbon works at. - Reference to Max Thunder's wrestling career. - Woodoak Chinatown with Shiva's Dojo. Not sure who the actors for each character would be, but I would laugh if Robin Shou was given the part of Shiva just sending his men to attack the Trio near the Pine Pot and just being like Cary Tagawa as Heihachi in Tekken the Live Action Film. He wouldn't have to do much if they base the plot on the first game where Shiva isn't present but his men are. If anything Shiva could be portrayed as an Anti-Villain/Anti-Hero trying to protect Chinatown from the Wrath of the Syndicate by sending out assassins on orders of Mr. X. I don't know, but so far Robin has been in Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter (Sadly not the good one 😅), and even Dead or Alive as a non canon Pirate (I wish I was making that part up). But hey, lets add Shiva to his Resume being a Anti-Villain/Anti-Hero Grandmaster in Chinatown. 😂

This is a bit of a stretch, but if you ever want to see what a Soul Calibur movie *could* look like, French director Chistopher Gans, in his movie Brotherhood Of The Wolf, (which by the way features Mark Dacascos as a Native American who knows kung-fu), has given the main antagonist of the movie Ivy's whip-sword in the final fight sequence, except it's made of bones from an animal he hunted, while the main character fights with 2 smaller swords close to Cervantes style.

Great recommend! That movie wasn't what I expected when I first rented it, but I had a great time!

The Ken Dribing Flashback scene wasn't Silverchair, it was Alice in Chains Them Bones from the album Dirt. A recomend for good 90s rock.🤘🏾

Just finished watching the whole thing. Great shout out by Justin for Future Cops. That was one of my favorite fun movies to watch. Also, surprised they didn't talk about Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist. It did get a Blu-ray / DVD release.

Assassins fist was great, wish the people behind it were able to do a sequel to it

One Fighting Game media I never see anyone talk about was the 90s Mortal Kombat: Conquest TV series.

Thanks for adding the info about Raoul Julia's health-situation. I heard that as a kid but did not think much about it and had then forgotten about it. He does give a great performance The fact that Guile wants to rather put down his buddy Charly as he thinks that he had turned into a monster so as to save him I always found quite deep.

First place I saw SF2 Animated Movie was at a friend’s house when it was a new rental. It was the uncut, English dubbed VHS. I loved it so much I went to rent it and double-taped the VHS. It’s long gone now. It’s so good, I should order the uncut blu-ray.

I think a good topic would be, what would you fix or how can you make (stick name of a bad fighting game) better or playable. Eg: Street Fighter 1, Primal Rage, Clay Fighters series, Shaq Fu, ETC.

Aw man, I was thinking that the guys gonna talk about Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist but I hope it comes soon in the next video. Street Fighter The 1994 Movie talk is on point. I still watching it from time to time just for guilty pleasure. When it comes to the SF2 animated movie, I tend to lean more towards the Japanese version for its soundtrack. If people were to say songs play when it comes to Ryu and Ken interacts with each other were too sappy or even too close for comfort, I'd say it's meant for character development and emotional at best. There is a song with a very long title in it got very, very famous and it's a big deal in Japan. Probably some of you guys know it already. I don't hate the American version though. Listened to it and yeah, I can see the heavy music is meant to bring excitement and heart-pumping kind of vibe.

Glad you mentioned it but City Hunter Jackie Chan gave us the best Chun-Li and E Honda. As for animated asides from SF2 I really liked the Fatal Fury 2 animated movie, KoF Destiny is alright considering its free but aside from Team JApan vs American Sports Team and the Geese origin episode there were many issues.

Possible topic: handheld fighting games on the Gameboy advance. Kof had 2 games and street fighter had 3 I believe. Plus ton of other games

Love this new channel. Back in the day, in the proto-YoVideogames MK9 story mode streams, Kenny made the suggestion to watch some fighting game movies on stream doing live commentary, and I still think it'd be a great idea for this channel or a team up between TKO and YVGs. LOTS of terrible or fun movies to choose from.

1:30:08 Oh, you think the amulet was dumb? Quan Chi's ending in Armageddon is that the amuulet gets destroyed, he gets super-special-awesome powers and challenges the Elder Gods. They kick his ass and turn him into the very same amulet, then send him back in time so his past self can get the amulet again.

Love the first Street Fighter movie! That M Bison performance is the best thing ever! Also, this movie is a better GI Joe movie than the actual GI Joe movies. I watch both 90s MK movies every year. The first one is an actual good movie, and Annihilation is so bad that it's hilarious. The 3rd movie is pretty good, but Cole sucks. Dead Or Alive is ok. A couple of the fights look pretty cool. This movie wasted some really good martial artists. Nash is the only enjoyable thing in the Chun-Li movie. The Gen vs Bison fight is awful! My favorite part of the Tekken movie is Jin remembering his mom's lessons, and then applying them in the worst way. "Remove the mask of fear" becomes "punch yoshimitsu in the metal faceplate." And those are my thoughts...

I think all the various live action series, and animated adaptations, and especially the soundtracks helped keep Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter both alive all this time. I guess I'd be considered an SF Normie because I didn't care about much of anything that came out between MVC2 and 3rd strike EXCEPT for all of the animated stuff. SFII V, the two Alpha movies, the two movies that came out with SF4, the motion comic series. Mortal Kombat 9 was largely helped along because of MK Rebirth, that then evolved into MK Legacy. Which debuted at the same time as MK9 with it's heavy Dubstep promotion. I know that a lot of people hated Dubstep during it's peak, but Reptile's theme was always an exception of being a really kickass theme song. MK Legacy being what inspired the cats who did the Street Fighter Legacy fan short. Which in turn became Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist with Capcom's blessing. Then Capcom had them develop a mini-series that tied into the plot of SF5. Then there's the other fighting game animated movies that Bennett The Sage has covered a lot of. Fatal Fury, Tekken, and all those other ones that flew into production after the success of Street Fighter II.

Oh shit, I forgot all about the Street Fighter mangas, and the Mortal Kombat comics. I'm kind of disappointed that Ryu Final didn't end up being the official story between how Ryu and Akuma finished their conflict. I think that the Malibu Mortal Kombat comics were some of the first comics I ever bought as a kid.

An interesting topic I'd like to hear them discuss is characters who didn't make it into final builds of fighting games. I know Max went over the whole list of MVC3 characters who were considered and almost almost put into the game on his stream.

For a KOF movie they should've just kept to the over the top nature of it and doubled down on it. Especially after all the super herop movies these days that would be way more accepted now. Like make Rugal have a condition or special training that improved his perception and reflexes so much he can see every tiny muscle motion you make allowing him to predict every move the characters make, essentially making his input reading a plot point for the film or something.

Funny as heck episode, please do another episode based on fighting game anime's and OVA's! I would love for a live action movie of Guilty Gear to happen, just out of morbid curiosity for how they could possibly "normalize" a game series that's known for it's crazy characters and EXTENSIVE lore.

I remember the SF2 anime having two different covers as a kid, a yellow censored version and the red uncensored version. My dad didn't know the difference. And that's the first time a 6-7 year old Smashvillain accidentally saw a tiddy.

Are yall ready for the Street Fighter Cinematic Universe? Single movies for all main characters, trilogy for Ryu to fight Akuma. "Avengers" movie to fight Bison. Easy.
