My Dad was serving with the South Lancs on Sword Beach on DDay… I visited yesterday as he would of been 100 this year. His name was Pt Charles Cox. All I know is he was a Company runner and won the MM. it was very emotional to visit the beach.

My friend private Ray Rush landed with C Company, he was in one of the landing craft of which the narrator speaks when they dropped the ramp too soon. He went under and was fished out by the Candian Coxwain. He made it through to the end of the war. We visited this year for the 80th and was privilidged enough to be given a personal tour of the chateau la londe by the owner. We left him with a marble plaque of the South Lancs cap badge. I am the author of Ray Rush, The Last man Standing book.

Great Show! Being American I have pretty good knowledge of American beaches, but still have a lot to learn about the British and Canadian beaches, so this was a good show toward helping that along. The live shots by Mag were amazing making the show even more amazing.

Great show again thanks, the format brings it all together. One of my fave walks is starting at Colleville, along Sword, inland to Hermanville, call in at the CWGC cemetery, up the slope to Hillman, then back down to the coast along the ‘commando way’.

This is the first time I have watched this livestream. I know it might seem sentimental and all that, but the views of the cemetery are very moving, even for a Yank. God bless the men who landed here on that fateful day of June 6th, 1944. My thanks and condolences to all the families of the fallen. I appreciate the work of Madame Magali and of her husband Paul bringing us the images of Sword Beach. The effort made by the people of France to preserve the battlefields is a testimony to the bravery and sacrifices made by so many in the cause of freedom. Merci Mon ami!

Interesting to listen to, and beautiful to watch (merci, Mag!). The beach looks so similar to Rye Beach here in New Hampshire, USA where I live. Of course, there's more incredible history in the sands of the Normandy beaches than all the libraries I could ever hope to visit. Paul - Many of your presentations get me very emotional.

Wrt taking prisoners i have read an account by an ex-CMO of the SAS (who works for Medicins san Frontiers for his sins) stated that the most common injury encountered in the SAS were knee injuries, not from the DAS, but from their prisoners, due to a swift sideways blow with a rifle butt to the knee, basically crippling them for life, but they can't run away.
