Fighting Largo - Gen. Pool Characters Only [] Octopath Traveler: CotC

Hello everybody! This video is a celebration to commemorate our 8 months of arena champions!
Largo is the prime example of a beautifully designed battle. It is the most difficult fight in the game, requiring sustained concentration, good planning and a flexible team. Largo will test you on everything you've learnt thus far.
Know that I did not come up with this ingenious strategy, but borrowed it from ‪@coheee‬. I have modified it for increased stability, and with a significantly lower turn count. That, ironically, required more work than creating a strategy from scratch.

Strategic Notes:
- The main ideas of this team is to have Ophilia tank the boosted attacks with her magical dodge, and optimise damage around ice element. If you can't do it in two breaks then you need a different team.
- Everything in this video can be reproduced turn by turn, provided you have the characters. Using A2 instead of Therion makes the last break much easier, but I wanted to do this without limited characters.
- Turn 13 is the only turn with RNG. A little less than 25% of the time she takes all attacks and dies. This can be mitigated by bringing more defensive buffs/debuffs, but likely at the cost of offence.
- It is best to replace Therion with someone that is slower than Aslyte, because then you can set it up to have them attack twice in break.
Equipment
- Armors didn't matter much. Just use the highest level and its fine.
- Some had HP accessories. While it wasn't necessary, it felt safer.
- Berserk or Origin weapons mostly.
- Cardona is built for maximum HP. I also had her equip an Antidote charm, but it didn't help much with survivability so you might as well use another HP accessory.
- Note that Cardona needs to be faster than Cyrus, and Ophilia faster than the slowest add. I equipped them both with King Chomper Vests to accomplish that.

Congrats on this clear, I'm still lacking on half of units here. Still, I'm able to get to Tier 1 for the race at least although I might try again later. Also, good choices on music here especially the Soundtrack Edit on 11:40 it feels like the climax of the fight.

The fact I'm still missing both Sofia (which is the last one I'm missing from the original 8 5 stars while having A3 Fiore and A2 Millard) and Cyrus is just- man. Thanks, I hate it. The more content gets added the more I seem to need those two for everything. *Especially* paired together. They're just so good it's unfair

I started with Gilderoy, got 5 Sophias (A4), 6 Fiores (A4 + lvl 10 ultimate), 5 Gilderoys (A4+ lvl 10 Ultimate) along the way and still no Theo. Haha😅 P.S. I didn't pull in the original Fiore/Sophia banner where SQ gave a free copie of one of them for people that pulled

good work as always! Im loosing my mind though, i've tried every single strategy out there and i always miss some accesory or unit and cant make it through. i think i have the units but i really suck at replacing and making comps, the only relevant units i dont have are ophi, falco and lianna. i've been trying non stop since it came out but man nothing seems to be working for me, its really frustrating. Don't worry, take a break. The content is 2 days old and is not going anywhere. For the record, it took me about 2-3 hours to beat him first time. It was a different team, but very messy. And it took me about 10 hours to prepare this video. Had to go through the whole thing turn-by turn, to make sure it was optimised.

I tried following your guide, but I had to restart a few times because I was doing too much damage and summoning the 4th wave of adds. I just had to not boost attacks at some points. Then I just missed the kill on the 2nd break because I didn't use Cyrus's 3 hit that would do 12K instead of his 1 hit doing 10K.

Unfortunately this was a while ago and I no longer remember their status. You should be able to get close by accounting for awakenings and gear though. The most important thing is the order, which I've somewhat covered in the description.

Cool video! Thanks for posting. Is there a weapon/armour order list somewhere that I can use? I'm at a point in the game where almost every chapter seems to add a new upgradable weapon/armour and I don't know whether to wait or upgrade it to level 4. I believe Origin is currently the best in slot for most but I don't know how far away I am from it story-wise.

There is no need to go for level 4 until you reach the final two sets (BoP and BoW ch. 3). Level 3 is more than sufficient for story and much endgame stuff. If you go through the chapters quickly, you may not have to grind any weapons at all. Also, I think MeowDB has a list of equipments so you can check their site.

@@mchlup Ok, then after Tyrannical comes Sacred (Fame Ch. 1), Twilight (Wealth Ch. 2), Adamantine (Power Ch. 2), Atlas (Fame Ch. 2), Ma'dan (side story in I'cirlo), Origin (Wealth Ch. 3) and Berserk (Power Ch. 3). In May we'll have the next series which I assume focuses on E.Atk (Fame Ch. 3), it'll be last of these kinds of weapons before we move on to the Soul weapon system in June.

@@mchlup origin is good to keep either way, since the HP bonus it gives is handy in many situations. But when Soul weapons come they just replace everything.

How can i replace Therion with A2? I mean; A2 doesnt have debuff skill like Restrain Foe, and when should i use Berserk?

The restrain foe isn't necessary, it just allows Cardona to survive a critical hit at turn 13 which reduces the RNG. At the very end, where you see Therion use Restrain Foe right before the break, that is a good time to use berserk.

you say using A2 is easier than therion, but im finding that cardona always dies on turn 18 because i dont have therion's atk. down. I have max pdef origin armor on her but he always does like 4.8k damage and then I can't deal with the ult afterwards. any ideas?

This is true, I should have specified this. You have to hope that Largo doesn't crit without the ATK down (which is how こへー did it). A2 makes the last phase easier because the damage requirement is lower.

There isn't really a sub for Cardona in this comp. But you could try Gilderoy. He should at least be able to tank the boost attacks. Otherwise I recommend to go full on DPS, and bring revive to bring back KO'd units. As for Eliza. You can try Alfyn, Hasumi or another damage dealer, but it'll change the turn order.

Too bad I don't have alfyn as well. If I had alfyn I would have beat him via brute force. My a2 got kill prior to the 2nd break so I'm taking a break for now

Lianna is *excellent* in this fight, but if you bring her you need someone else to tank the boosted attacks, such as Tressa or Gilderoy.

So does Largo use his boost attack every 5 turns? If so, do these count turns that he’s also broken?

It's every 5th turn he is *active*, so breaking will displace the order. It can be difficult to follow after a few breaks.

@@sagemastermania7169 I mean that the boost attack is delayed on the turn order. If he does it at turn 5 and you break him, leaving him unable to act for two turns, he will do it again on turn 12. This makes it a bit hard to keep track of all his attacks. I had to use a notepad when fighting him x)

After a lot of attempts i defeated him. No alfyn, no Cyrus and no ice DPS, no A2, no Falco and no Linnette Ult Lv.10. Only Therion and Zaanta my main DPS. My team: Viola Zaanta Ophilia Therion Zaanta Pia (Yes as tank and second ultimate buffer) Linnette Ri’tu

You can use Gilderoy, Edea, Serenoa or Devin and tank the boss in the traditional way. Just make sure to give them an HP fortune polearm/sword.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I matched characters, moves, and equipment but I keep dying. If anything my characters might be a little stronger with levels and awakenings but I am consistently losing characters still...

@@EmpyreanSky it's usually after the first break though sometimes with the third set of adds. That double whirling blow usually does it and both Aslyte and Theriot die before I take out the bottom add in prep for the final break

@@EmpyreanSky i appreciate the response. Aslyte kept dying after the first break and I had to use Ophilia's ultimate to revive her. After dying many times, I tweaked her accessories to give her hp regen. After that and swapping Therion and Lynette at turn 15, using Eliza to shield shave, I was finally victorious! I do not want to refight for a long time...

Not for this comp, but I suggest trying out Millard. He can literally stay in the front line forever and heal the whole party. You need to find another way to deal with the boosts attacks though. I know both Tressa and Gilderoy can survive them.

Turn 14 is fucking everything up for me. Ophilia is too fast and Therion ends the turn at half health, dying during turn 15. Idk what to do.

Yeah I can safely say this is not working for me. My whole team moves before the bottom add on turn 14, who does the AoE attack, leaving Therion at half health or so. Then on the next turn, Largo does an AoE attack and kills him every time.

@@grt002 It's kinda weird though. I used all the speed nodes as well. As you can see by the end here I have King Comper Vest equipped, which means I needed another 38 speed to make this work. My Ophilia had no awakening stones, though, so it could be that you just passed the threshold at A1.

You can try substitute her with Gilderoy, but you can't use Ophilia for tanking this way. Alternatively Alfyn can work too. Bring his revive and just a revive someone that dies. It is not as stable but it can work.

Ffs EVERYONE HAS CYRUS, he is literally mandatory for me to win this mofo fight,im getting so triggered, ive beaten all cups excepts this prick. No matter who i bring i just cant do it, if i focus on survivability i dont do enough damage and vise versa And all guides i look up always have cyrus and or a2 both of wich i dont have

Getting enough damage is not the main challenge here, but rather it is your timing. And Cyrus provides only damage, there is literally nothing else to his kit. If anything, he is the most replaceable in this video. The clear was done without fortune weapons, so if you get those you should be able to replace Cyrus with pretty much any 5* ice attacker (Lianna would be even better). Hunter teams should work if you got Z'aanta, Kersjes and Chloe/H'aanit/Herminia. Thief team is also possible if you got Therion, Auguste and Falco. You could also opt to go the long route and finish off all the adds as they show up. Requires a more defensive build though.

@EmpyreanSky yea well as a f2p player with no good accessories even balancing team order is hard and what make cyrus so good isn't just the damge but the fact he's aoe I've resorted to lars for he's sword aoe for mob 1 but he still lacks damage to kill the adds in 3 turns so I can never break largo before he's 5th turn nuke and even if I do it's at the cost of no buffs/debuffs being setup so I can't even skip 2nd wave of mobs, and no matter what defense ups I bring my units just feel so squishy, I'm just not gonna bother with this fight until I get better units for it
