I believe the reason for why we got this kind of setting and story was to minimize the size and scale of things to fit the budget. And it worked. Sad that it didn’t have Johnny rico in it and the 3rd did and the 3rd sucked

@@whatthepfpsays4234 same I really liked this movie, I held off for so long watching it because all i heard from anyone was negative. I found it to be quite the alien ripoff but that is a pretty cool idea for a bug and a story in the Starship Troopers universe. And again, eveyone talks about how bad the guns look but no one mentioms how good the bugs themselves look, they are on par with the original and then you get to starship troopers 3 and oh my god the warrior bugs are a travesty to look at. I liked Dax as a charcater more than I thought I would and espeically loved his theme song, fits well with the federation. Imo, ST 2 is worth checking out over ANY of the later sequels including 3 4 and 5. I could easily throw it on with my buddies for a cheesy low budget horror night and wed legitimately have a blast cuz there are some good moments in this one. Its very campy all in all, but so is starship troopers in general and its a different kind of campy than st3, its way more grounded and realistic in terms of visuals

Directed by the one and only legendary Phil Tippet! He ain’t a director but it’s not as bad as critics say it is. It’s not the spectacular movie but it’s not terrible. There are some very good moments in this low budget film.

I will say this maybe this would have work better as a tv show then a straight to dvd movie, it kind of got the hall marks of of a sci fi tv show even one made in the early 2000s

Since Starship Troopers has dropped; these guys and this film is represented in the best common troopers of the game, the 'E-Pulse Troopers.' Like this film, they're surprisingly good and surprisingly cheap.
