Politics of MAGA caused Russia to gain the initiative away from Ukrainian forces with 3 months of stalling, as Trump wanted the delay so that if elected he could claim as being the catalysts that ended the war. Do you know that if Putin/Russia is allowed to gain more power to take over other countries then he/they will want to control the rest of the countries that are democratic(means freedom of choice to the people). Russia's primary combat vehicle in this war is NOT the Tank but is the BMP-1 / MT-LB series of IFV's. Russia has between 15,000 to 20,000 BMP's and BMP based vehicles like the BMP-1, BMP-2, BMP-3, MT-LB, 9P149 Shturm-S, 2S1 Gvozdika and etc. They are seen in every battle in Ukraine and have the highest attrition rate of any Russian combat vehicle so far. The are also the easiest to replace and manufacture with over 2,000 manufactured / refurbished / repaired every year or so.

Russians are attacking Ukrainian weapons depots and army barracks while Zelenskyy is attacking residential buildings with anti-aircraft missiles with long expired shelf life. Zelenskyy already hit Poland, Romania (a jet and a chopper were downed, 8 servicemen killed), Moldova, Belarus, numerous residential buildings and at least 4 children’s playgrounds inside Ukraine with these missiles. Western missiles which are sent there are also with either expired shelf life or very close to expiration date. It’s mindboggling how many buildings were hit and civilians killed (including two hapless Polish farmers) with this ongoing criminal lunacy of Zelenskyy regime . The chance of downing Russian missile is negligible in comparison with a risk of an accident with numerous civilian casualties. To give weapons to this war criminal Zelenskyy is like giving matches and gasoline to a serial compulsive arsonist.

Ukraine will do nothing bad. Those are not " ethnic Russian provinces" but provinces with maybe some 27-30% ethnic Russian population who's moved there over generations. They never bothered to learn the language as they do not want to do in Latvia, either. Their main complaint was that Ukraine wanted all schools and legal stuff to be run in Ukrainian but they said no, it must all be in Russian. Ukraine said " no". "This is Ukraine so study and do legal things in the national language of the country in which you are a citizen". Is that too much to ask for? To study and do legal things in the language of the country in which you were born? But no, too lazy and too arrogant. Putin seized on that and blew it way out of proportion creating a narrative of discrimination, oppression of Russian speakers,etc. and now, Russia must go in to protect them. That was the excuse he needed for the invasion. And ironically, he bombs those Russian speakers every day.

Actually, the fighting is nowhere near Kharkiv, which sits 50-65km away from the Russian border depending on which direction you measure from. The most critical aspect of the entire Russian offensive is the farther location, the small town of Vovchansk, a mere 2km from the Russian border, but which the Russians haven't even yet secured, and they MUST have Vovchansk because that is the ONLY route through which the Russians can supply this 'invasion'. And as the history of the Russian army in Ukraine has demonstrated, the Russians desperately need rail lines and rail hubs - the truth is, their offensive capacity is severely dependent on this, and diminishes accordingly the farther they are away from a rail hub. And from Vovchansk, the city of Kharkiv is a further 55km. As to the more northerly part where the Russians hit the border, there's quite literally nothing there - no good rail or road network, and bad terrain. While that part IS closer to Kharkiv, taking that area will in no way be helpful to the Russians, except to cover the flank of the Vovchansk operations.

Most Americans don't think Ukraine has gone far enough to recruit new soldiers. These new laws just are not going to get the job done. There are not enough incentives for recruits. The age needs to be dropped to 20 years old. I believe if the Russian make a big push. They can break though the Ukraine lines this summer. They have lost the political will to win, and the military has lost the dedication to win. Ukraine needs to pull itself to gather and fight. Russia did not go to war to create buffer zones. Russia went there because they want to control the country. They said some big is happening in Russia because Pres. Putin was rushed back to Moscow. Wonder what all that was about.
