“Ren music is medicine for the soul” … truth. It’s been incredible seeing the impact of this song. It touches everyone differently but deeply. The first part does such a great job at de-stigmatizing the topic and describing Ren’s journey through the darkness. The beat and the harmonies are infectious. It’s almost soothing. But the ending hits on a whole other level. Someone described the first part like a dream sequence, so I think of the last part as Ren waking up and facing the pain, loss, regret and guilt. Ren only recorded and added the last part recently, after sharing in the interview with Knox Hill about the night he lost his friend Joe Hughes. It was 2010, he received a call from a mutual friend that Joe was on the bridge saying his goodbyes. Ren ran as fast as he could and was the first to arrive, but he was minutes too late. They never found the body. The song and video were already finished, but he always felt the song was incomplete. Talking about Joe allowed him to face all of the pain and regret he had bottled up. He sat down and the ending just flowed out of him. He recorded it as he wrote. He kept the raw emotion. Hopefully it will give him some closure and peace. Thank you for sharing your loss and how it has impacted you. RIP Money Mike. I’m glad Ren gave you the words to describe how you’ve felt. I hope it allows you to heal. I was saying that - about how Ren expresses and says the things we feel. He is open and raw and makes us not feel alone, on so many songs on so many subjects! This 1 hit me so hard man i been to the point of suicide i wouldnt wish it upon my worst enemy man its that feeling wen u loose everything and in that moment u think "there is 8 billion people on this spinning rock and aint 1 of them here to get me out of this dark place im in" with me i lost my mom to cancer wen i was 15 and i i had left was a family full of gangbangers who had that "death before dishonor/blood in blood out" mentality and wen i was 18 and planned to leave the hood and move away for a decent life my own brother and cousin shot and stabbed me up....i went into such a dark place after that shit 19months of recovery it took i got about 2months into recovery and snapped so i wheeled my ass up to lake michigan in my wheelchair perched myself on edge of water put a gun in my mouth and pulled the trigger and the gun jammed and didnt fire off luckily that shit snapped me back out of that dark moment and i realised what id just tried doing.....then i realised i had my grandpa down in alabama and this 1 gurl i used to fuck with down there who allways had my back so i went down to alabama to them.....i was 18 then im 28 now and that gurl is my wife and we have 2 beautifull kids and we live over in the uk as far away from that bullshit as possible

@@emplula it took me a long long time to want to open up about my fucked up start to life but i enjoy sharing my story now because if 1 person who is at breaking point sees my story and see's that tgere is light at the other side and there is a better way out and i can help save 1 persons life il die a happy man.......in 9 years i gone from being stabbed and shot up and left for dead by my own flesh and blood, to putting a gun in my mouth and pulling the trigger for the gun to jam, to leaving for another country getting married to my soul mate and having 2 beautifull kids i gone from the lowest point a human can be at to having my own family and being ok....if i can help just 1 person see there is better days that is a blessing
