here’s the full workout :) 1: heel clicks- creates more time in air •start with singles, then move on to doubles and triples 2: split turns- helps with height •start with half turns, then full turns 3: back spin rotation- helps with rotations speed •stage one- arms rounded to the right, feet in h position stage two- arms crossed on chest, foot crossed, proper air position stage there- arms closed, feet crossed, this time jump out into a landing at end 4: hop backs- start with quarter turns, then half, then 3/4, then full 5: 4 strong single jumps after doing quarter jumps to warm up 6: double turns

Thank you so much for uploading, Mary! The skating rink in my city is closed for the summer and I've been looking for a way to keep up my skating skills in the meantime - your videos are just what I was hoping to find! Lots of love from Brussels

Mary, I've loved your on-ice skating tips, and now love your off-ice skating exercises. Your instruction is so helpful, especially when you show how each jump/spin/exercise should not look. Thanks!

Well I've never skated before in my life but I can do a 3/4 rotation with no problem. It would be fun to learn to make a double rotation, I think it will help me get a better sense of balance :)

I GOT ONE AND A HALF ROTATIONS USING THIS!!!! I could barely get one at first and if I was reallyyy trying I could get one and a quarter, after this I could effortlessly do one and a quarter AND one and a half! The key is to watch her upper body!!

I love your videos. Could you do a video on how to get steady with backwards one foot skating? I feel like I rock on my blade when going backward on one foot and need to figure out how to hold a strong steady and long glide so I can learn things like the three turn and waltz jump.
@CoachMarySkating5 жыл бұрын

And it would be super cool if you did a series on the skills for each different skating levels. There is an app that is similar to this but your teaching technique is way better!!!! The app is called, US Figure Skating Skate Coach Adult 1-6 Edition.

Thanks for your video. I want to learn figure skate as a hobby, but right now I can't. I'm thinking of practicing off ice jumps by my self. My goal is to do double jump. Do you think it's ok to learn jumps by myself?
@CoachMarySkating5 жыл бұрын
I think it would help to have a coach teach you the basics first to ensure proper form then practice on your own after that! It is difficult to unlearn improper form. Hope that helps.

This is very helpful. However, at what point of the rotation do you pull in the arms for the double? It looks like it’s about 3/4 of the first rotation. Am I right on this?

Hi, when i do the quarter and hop back exercise, I tend to lean back, which causes me to go off axis, do you have any tips on how to fix that?
@normanklein31552 жыл бұрын
Try doing the quarter and hop back exercise with your eyes closed as that will force you to focus even more intently on internal placement and posture.

Can I hear anyones results stories that used this video? did you feel like it helped a little bit with another video, or is this a go to video youd teach if you had to student someone? Why do you feel like it was something that really felt nessecary? I ask because I want to be really good at skating, and im looking for a direction!

You put your step label that covers your legs movement in slow motion it's hard to see what's behind the writing. Maybe because I'm watching on a phone it might be different at a computer or TV
