Fisher-Price Corn Popper Repair

Hey everyone! Today I'm doing something a little bit different and showing you how to repair the Fisher-Price Corn Popper toddler toy. My son got this as a hand-me-down from one of his cousins, but when we went to use it we saw it only works when going backwards. In this video I'll show how to do a simple tear down and some possible solutions to fix the issue.

Thank you! The bar had broken cleanly in the center, and I couldn't figure out how two bars went back. Since you said it could be a broken bar and see one bar on the video, I figured out there was only one long bar and mine had broken. I was able to replace it and saved an old toy!

I'm about to give one away and it had the same problem. Luckily this video helped me fix it! Thank you! Hint: I bended the yellow plastic "U" shape part towards each other and that made it pop better!

That was our same problem. As soon as i took the little plastic bar it jumped right out and I put it in and it worked out for both directions! Thanks

Thank you! Was able to fix my little one's popper. He was so excited to have it work going forward now. Btw-removing the ring is such a pain, even with a flat head. Fisher Price needs to do some quality control because there seems to be quite a few of us who have this problem.

Thanks so much for this video! I’ve been wanting to take my daughter’s apart to fix it for a while but wasn’t even sure where to start because of the lack of visible screws. Your video was very helpful. What ended up fixing mine was flipping the spring around the other way.

I'm here because I want to add some weight inside. We have hard floors so I'm thinking some silicone on the wheels and a little weight inside will help the wheels grip. Thanks for the guide!

Excellent tutorial! Purchased a new one for our one-year old, but it started squeaking shortly after first use. Going to take apart and lubricate to hopefully quiet it down.

I do not know if the latest are different but it is nearly impossible to remove the top trim. FP has designed it this way. You can not pry off the top without breaking all the tabs off. The tab can not be push outward as there is a piece behind it preventing this. You have to push the lock inwards from the top beside the bubble while lifting on the trim. Nearly impossible to do.

Trying to repair my daughter's corn popper, had it for a month and it's already having this issue. It would be really helpful if you could provide a visual guide for getting the top ring off, I cannot figure it out. Thanks for the video anyway!

Thanks. I couldn't figure out how to pop it off at first. This video really helped. I was able to turn the yellow part around and get it to work the other direction. I did however figure out that if you flip the spring around, it will keep the yellow piece in a less moving position. It now let's mine work in both directions. Thanks for the video!

Just pour a little cooking oil in-between wheels and popper. It's a sliver of a space, so you'll have to mop up some excess oil afterwards. It worked for me!

I did this and took it apart but my problem is the bar doesn't rotate w the wheels. Ugh

A philips head screwdriver and about 10 minutes of time doesn't register for me as being "all this" in terms of work. The time and money saved (no matter how little) is great when you got a new baby at home! If you got the spare cash though, then buying a new one works too!

How to remove it's handle, if we want to disassemble it?

Once the dome is removed you'll see two screws at the base of the handle. You can actually see them in the video. Take those out and the handle should pop off.
