Can anyone explain why it was a penalty stroke ? Looked like a PC to me at best.

Also another way to look at it is that it may have been intentional by the argentine defender. If it us then it is certainly a stroke

Yeah it was harsh, yes it probably did prevent a shot but it wasn’t a clear goal scoring opportunity at all p.

@@connormac2254 Umps are drilled to ping aerial yield matters in the air. Check lift. Then read landing spot…moment the keeper didn’t yield; Ping. PC. I get why the shot/attempt removed the advantage and she then couldn’t award PC. But should’ve been done before the shot attempt was even viable.

In the previous game comments were about the bad shoot-outs of the Dutch referring to the Qatar world cup against Argentina while I remember here a disputable penalty in regular time.....in this second match the Dutch were again stronger, though Argentina came back which is similar to the Dutch in the football world cup. Now you can disagree with Ref decision of the stroke equally at the end what counts is the score. Remember who won last year the Pro League, was that then based on (European) Ref decisions too?

@01:24 Two Netherlands defenders have feet on line, breach of 13.3(g) in combination with rule 1.8 This time - left post defender even hands on/pushing off front face of goal post - cannot argue no advantage gained. Has to be a retake with defender sent to half way. Again - umpires not bothering to apply FIH’s rules in an FIH own-brand event!!

Rule 13.3(g): 'not more than five defenders, including the goalkeeper, must be positioned behind the back-line with their sticks, hands and feet not touching the ground inside the field' It seems this has been interpreted that none of their body parts are on the 'ground'. So they are able to lean over the gaol line if they do not touch the ground. The post is also behind the goal line and so 'outside' of the field. Maybe why it wasn't blown.

@@matthewmichie2435 Freeze on the time stamp provided. You’ll see feet are on the line. Rule 1.8 provides that the line is in the field of play. I’m an umpire at Level2, PanelA. So can get called up onto Conference in England if not enough Level3s any given week. Level3 is what these ProLeague umpires should be for what we call Grade1 hockey and above. The standard of umpiring throughout the ProLeague has been really quite poor

I see each time if referee is european than he/she always biased towards other team and always want to win for European team

That is quite untrue and none of the umpires there that day (2 main umpires, video and reserve) were even European. Why try to pull the race card when umpires make an unfortunate mistake or a completely correct call that goes the other way?

@@Felipe.Taboada. no, I looked on the official match report. None of the 4 main officials were from Europe. We had 2 from pan America, one from the Caribbean and one from Africa. Thank you very much.
