AlokJi, I'm 63 and this is my 25th year, I think this has been the worst year I've seen in the market, but I am in the black, but the fall in the last 3 months has hurt more than the gain emotionally. even though I'm still in profit The fact that stcg is around 21% including cess and the expenses to make this stcg like investing in a laptop, the internet charges, printing of the contract notes and the CA fees for filing the IT returns eats away a major chunk of what ever profit I'm in, I may make only 20-30K if I trade for 30L and make a10% gain a smaller gain would mean that I'm in the red from day 1 and this is after the expenses that I've listed above over a bank fd so is it really worth it for me? The answer is no. One shoe doesn't fit all, I would love to hear your views, may be this is my last year with the present taxes on stcg. FYI in the last 25 years I made 12%+ cagr before taxes and the last 2 years has helped a lot.

Why do you assume DIIs are buying only the stocks FIIs are selling? You are ignoring other strong parties like HNIs and family offices. That is not reflected in DII buy/sell data.

There is no straight answer. It all depends on the sector as well. e.g. Private Sector bank has higher PE then Public Sector though they both are in the same business. E.g. HDFC Bank generate 68K caror profit and Market cap is 12.55L crore, whereas SBI is generating more profit then HDFC BANK but still market cap is half of HDFC BANK at 6.77L Caror, so no straight answer similarly Reliance and TATA Motors has multiple business under single company so does not reflect correct valuation.
