ALOHA! Great to see someone who has a passion for music! I’ve a couple of suggestions, if I may. Not your generic hip hop but both have rap elements in them. But I am sure it will be eye-opening to explore some deeper cultural elements! The first is ENJOY ENJAAMI. This is a powerful song about the history of indentured slaves from Tamil Nadu, in South India. Deep and moving lyrics with a reminder to respect and celebrate our roots and ancestry. The video cinematography is also stunning. The second is NEEYE OLI which is from a soundtrack of an Indian boxing movie. It features an Indian rapper from Canada, SVDP. He has barrrrrssss! If you are a musician - you should do like Hanuman kind, HMK and combine indigenous hawaian with afromerican hiphop/rap! Sooraj, took the project pat southern texas -memphis rap-hiphop sound and style and combined it with an southern indian culture space. You can do the same. Find a space unmistakeable indigenous hawiaan and combine it with modern afromerican music hiphop/rap. You might want to visit Vanatu. I read they still have indigenous polynesian music.
