IMO it makes sense to get Micro SD cards with large amounts of storage space because the FiiO M11 and M11 Pro can both play lossless and Hi-res music files. Since those files have very high bit rates, you need a lot of space on the Micro SD cards. Especially if you have a lot of music.

With a 400GB card I have a small bit of room left after loading up my 24/96 FLAC library (approx. 6000+ songs) for some Tidal downloads. I also like to listen to audiobooks. However if I load both FLACS and books onto the same card then everything shows up in the same menu. As a result I do not keep my audiobooks on my DAP. At this time I am thinking about partitioning a 512GB card into two separate drives and using one for music and the other partition for books. The price pf the 512GB cards has dropped below $80 now so I think it's time to try it out.

Is it possible to control M11 pro from a smartphone (that is, smartphone becomes the remote of M11 pro)? Thank you.

Yes and no. a 3.5mm to RCA cable will work. For remote control, the FiiO music app can remote control the music app itself (but not other apps) remotely. Remote control I don't think is really possible, unless you can find something on the Google Play store or another app store. For streaming to a fixed system, I'd be more inclined to set up a suitable desktop system with DLNA or Roon, though the latter doesn't have Spotify.

The wireless on my M11 goes out all the time, frustrating. Also, the overall touchscreen could be better to use. It seems less quality than any of the iphones I have used. Now, I am happy with my purchase, I put off buying one of these DAP's and finally went for it. See my comment below about using it as a DAC.

Hi All, I am thinking of uping my music game and I was wondering if such devices make that much of use to me. I am not a quality music enthusiasts but is such music players worth it? What are the benefits of having such a device to having just a phone with music players in it?
@Currawong4 жыл бұрын
You can store 1-2 TB of music on them. You can get better sound quality than from most phones. You can use them with high-quality full-sized headphones without the sound being distorted by lack of power. They aren't any benefit if you have cheap headphones though.

It would be interesting to compare the audio quality from one of the LG phones, but I'd be surprised if they could match a dedicated DAP like the M11 Pro. At least on spec, the power output from the phones isn't that great.

M11 - high end? Does it play better than sony wm 1A?
@taranagnew4362 жыл бұрын
what does "bit perfect" mean?
@Currawong2 жыл бұрын
It means that the software does not alter the music before it is decoded by the DAC into analog. For example, a digital volume control will alter the music to reduce the volume level. Android, by default, alters the sample rate of the music before conversion (or digital output to another device). It does this using poor quality conversion, which is no good if you have high-quality audio gear. FiiO and other manufacturers use a modified version of Android that doesn't do this.

Listening to music at high volume for prolonged periods, beyond 30 minutes, is damaging to hearing. Every now and then I’ll be in the mood to bump in the 100-110 dB range for a song or two! No offense, but if you’re gonna listen at 80 dB, why get an amp?

Ibasso dc02 is decent while the Meizu dongle DAC and the zorloo Ztella both sound better than the IBasso, but have significantly worse build quality. The Meizu is for sure the best value. With the performance of these DACs off of an Android phone, I think DAPs are pointless now, especially considering that they put out several year old versions of Android with crappy touch screens to boot.

@@dominics109 Over-ear or in-ear? There are a lot of good In-Ear Monitors under $600, and this thing does pretty good with harder to drive Over-Ear headphones. I prefer In-Ear Monitors for portable use. As far as IEMs go, there are many good options. The FIIO FA7s pair well in the $300 range, The Moondrop Blessing 2's are around $320, and the FIIO FH7's are around $450. There is also a lot of good Chi-Fi options in the sub $200 category all the way down to around $50 that all sound pretty damn good. Most Open-Back Over-Ear headphones are not very portable due to weight and sound bleed. I am currently using the Audeze LCD-X's, and they can definitely be driven off this device. I am not sure any headphone is worth $1200, as diminishing return kicks in, but I like them. I think the Hifiman Sundara, Hifiman Ananda, Audeze LCD-2C, or Focal Elex are all good sub $1000 options.
