I have the same sump, and also do the floss almost exactly the same as you do. I also added a sensor for when the water level increases letting me know to change the floss (using APEX).

Nice, didn’t know that was even an option. I somehow am on top of replacing mine every 1-2 days, with the frag tank it’s getting dirty faster (pretty much every day now). I love that my sump isn’t under the stand, when I go downstairs to feed the fish I can’t help but look at the filter floss to see if it’s dirty. Thanks so sharing your upgrades! Talk soon.

Great video 😊. I do love how you set up your sump in the basement. Why did you plumb your sump with soft tubing instead of pvc tubing?. I did like how you plum your frag tank to your sump. I would probably have a second return pump just for the old rag tank. Are you considering a manifold in your sump? Anyways, great setup and keep on reefing 🐠🐟
@ladyaquatica
@ladyaquatica 10 ай бұрын
Heyy thanks so much for watching! I originally had hard plumbing when the sump was in the stand. The back of the aquarium still has the hard plumbing, but in order to get it to the basement I had to switch to flex as one of my lines was crossing over another line and was much easier to curve around it. It’s also helpful to have less elbows when your sump is far from the display. I have considered manifolds, but plumbing isn’t my fav and I work around it. Best!

Great video, you have a really nice setup. I have never wanted a basement more than I do now seeing all your equipment at waist height for maintenance. I'd be concerned about that Humidity level in the basement, perhaps a dehumidifier should be added? Down here in Florida that would be mold problem.
@ladyaquatica
@ladyaquatica 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! I love having my equipment at waist level too, and not behind doors. I easily change my filter floss every 2 days. Here in Ontario, I’ve run a dehumidifier and it doesn’t really make a difference, it just makes the tank water evaporate faster. So I stopped. Thanks for watching!

Great walkthrough and nice system. No issues with the lack of kalk stirring? Is it just sitting in the bottom of the RO water container?
@ladyaquatica
@ladyaquatica 6 ай бұрын
Heyy thanks. The sediment is sitting at the bottom of the container, no issues I’ve noticed. Kalk stirs will require you wait till the sediment settles.

I'm looking at a complete Fiji Cube setup, and as a shift worker, I really want a low maintenance setup. I now know to ditch the sock filters if I order it complete.
@ladyaquatica
@ladyaquatica 10 ай бұрын
👍 For me, it’s much easier. And you don’t have to wash the socks in bleach and have to worry about possible bleach entering the system.

@ladyaquatica

Heyy, I dose ESV B-Ionic for Alk, Cal, Mag and ESV Kalk, plus I dose Fauna Trace Elements Organic manually. I’m a big time doser as I rarely do water changes.

@@ladyaquatica the moonshiners tests say so. Also make sure you get something to support your drain line to your sump. It could break the bulkhead or the glass if something falls or leans on it. Love your stuff keep up the content.
@ladyaquatica
@ladyaquatica 10 ай бұрын
I hate plumbing lol. Do you mean adding bulkheads to my sump to hold the plumbing in place? I’m not sure I understand which glass could break. My overflow is connected to hard pvc that transitions to flex close to the floor, and my sump is acrylic, so I assume you’re worried about the overflow box? I’ve briefly looked into the moonshiners method, I’ll look into it further, thanks
@jerrybeute8884
@jerrybeute8884 10 ай бұрын
@@ladyaquatica I'm talking abt the drain off the frag tank. That's a lot of weight on the bulkhead coming out of the tank. In your video there doesn't appear to be anything supporting that drain line. Like it's floating in the air
@ladyaquatica
@ladyaquatica 10 ай бұрын
Oh, yes yes. I had my trident supporting it before but didn’t want the trident to get damaged. Will find something else to support it. Specially with the low boy glass being on the thinner side, good idea.

Nice run through, it is not recommended to run the air through your ozone generator unless it is turned on, you are better off driving it with an air pump and second input to skimmer...

Please ,please ,give your Redsea 600 a thorough clean and rinse so it can perform .
@ladyaquatica
@ladyaquatica 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your concern Rusty. The Skimmer is still performing as it’s producing skimate and I cleaned the inside of the neck 1-2 weeks prior to filing, which is the important part. The outside of the neck can be dirty without compromising the performance.
