He comes from this Island you see here, Vanualevu, that's the tip of the northernmost part of the Island called UDU Poidi..or Ucunipotu...Sitiveni Lakolako's vlg is only a couple of miles south of the point...great fiji singers come from here...Balawaviriki, Vaga ni Saqani, Utosolo etc...

It took me awhile to find it but I managed to locate UDU Poidi. I really appreciate your contact. This is just such a special sound; maybe one of my favorites world wide. I lived on a sailing vessel in Savu Savu for four years. I took a guitar with me that I hadn't played in years. I ended up doing nothing but listening and trying to sing with some of the Fijian singers at the yacht club where they doubled as security during the day. I was so moved that by the time I came home I had written and played 19 songs. You can see what I came up with, if you're interested at: wheaties-songs-of-fiji.weeble.com I added in trumpet so that I could write down the notes on sheet music, but it is basically guitar and vocals. I didn't know at the time that I would never hear or make such a sweet sound again, once I left Fiji. By the way, one of the guitar players was a tall man of about 45 named Nemani. He had a terrible argument one night and ended up getting himself locked away in Lambasa prison for a life time term. That was in 2005. He was a phenomenal lead guitarist who also harmonized. If anyone you know has heard of him, whether he is still there or got out. I sure would like to know. Cheers and vinaka!

Let's be peace because our origin is from God Himself, He created us and and also set us apart..full stop!
