Hej Hej. Thank you for your videos. I'm from Montreal and I got stuck in Stockholm when all the crisis happened, I have no possibility to go back home, so now I live in Sweden for an indeterminate period of time. So I decided to learn the local culture and language. I'm watching your slow swedish serie to help me to learn. Thank you for the videos and thank you for sharing your thoughts. Tack so mycket !

I can’t believe that when I watched this video last April I couldn’t understand a word but after 3 months of using a language app, just for a few minutes here and there (tho I make sure to use it every single day and this is key to remembering the words) I can understand most of this slow Swedish video. It just goes to show that if you put your mind to something and practice it everyday, even just for maybe 10 minutes, you will have success. Don’t give up and use these videos over and over to “tune your ear” to the proper pronunciation of the words and phrases you learn. :)

Hey Katrin, your videos are brilliant! They contain very useful and practical words and expressions, as well as touching on many culture points. For someone like me who is somewhere at the low intermediate level in the language, the content offers a better learning experience than most other Swedish language videos out there, which only seem to be designed for beginners. Please continue to make more! Thanks.

If you’re still taking suggestions for videos, would love to see just like, a ”day in your life” sort of video. Besides you, one of the first Swedish YT’ers I started listening too was Jonna Jinton and while she doesn’t teach Swedish, I always found the Swedish that would come through during everyday moments to be wonderfully helpful and allowed me to hear what the language would/should sound like in everyday life. Moments like greeting her dog first thing in the morning or shooing the cat back in/out of the house, banter with her husband over breakfast, little bits of phone conversation or talking in the car or visiting with family members-all in Swedish! It helped more than I thought and it would be so exciting when I could actually pick up bits of what was being said. Just an idea! Like a “tag along with me while I do everyday things/life/chores/errands” type of video Your videos have been so helpful to me!Thank you!!

Hi Katrin, be careful with advising people to keep shopping and supporting local businesses. This is what also Bergamo, one of the worst hit towns in Italy, was advising. I think the safest thing to do is to work from home, if you can, and social distance as much as possible. Even if you seem healthy you might be asymptomatic but still transmit the virus. Be very careful! Besides that, thank you for teaching us Swedish, I really appreciate your videos! Hej from Italy :)
@megababy804 жыл бұрын
You can order goods online and adhere to protection guidelines. you can also practice social distancing by speaking slow Swedish
@SlowSwedishwithKatrin4 жыл бұрын
I stand by my belief that we should follow our country’s instructions. If your country advises you to go to work and go home that’s what you should do. 😊 Thinking we know better or can predict what is going to happen is just thinking we can control things that are out of our control. It’s not productive. In most places in Sweden there is no reason not to support local businesses. Especially those who can receive support online. Stay safe. 😊
@elenap184 жыл бұрын
@@SlowSwedishwithKatrin Thanks for the response! :D Of course, I see what you mean, we can't control things that are out of our control, but it seems like in this situation an "eccess of caution" would be safer than the opposite, to protect our elders / weaker members of society. Don't take this as a critique: I was not criticizing you, just speaking from what I saw. But I completely agree with you that you can do both things (staying safe and helping businesses) by buying online. 👩🏻💻

While it is critical for economies to continue to function, a government that places priority of its economy over its people's health is unjust. Now, evidently Sweden is structured much differently than places in the United States, thus this guideline isn't receiving as much criticism there. I hope you Swedes prove the world's critics wrong and come out on top of this. Pulling for y'all.

I have a question about word formation. Are these words related? Is för a prefix? If so, what does it mean? Or is it just a giant coincidence?

I'm finding not all of the restrictions in my country reasonable. I have done many simulations, i.e. me and other scientists have found, that a lot of published numbers are presented by the government in a way that make them look more frightening as they really are while withholding relevant numbers that could have justified less drastic measures, even though panic is not helping... I'm currently reviewing those decisions from a scientific perspective, finding more and more issues with what was communicated with the people... I.e. critical voices are rarely being heard, even the friendly and moderate ones (it is slowly changing but too late for good decision making, I believe). I'm afraid, this virus will change my country forever (or it is just showing us how little people care for their rights, respect, pluralism and knowledge already). So that is actually why I want to learn Swedish, to understand more about Sweden and its liberalism/ts, that has/have presumably lead the country through a crisis without a mass panic attack. I am going to visit Sweden next time I go on a holiday to find out how everyday life and work and living there could look like. I would like to learn more about the background and societal importance of Swedish liberalism. What the concept of an open society really means to the individual. I.e. how the support of your government feels to you, or how criticism (in the crisis and on everyday basis) is expressed and received, when it comes to politics... how the whole system works and if it works as great as it looks from the outside...
