Dude when people ask me about Improving their production this is exactly what I want to tell them and you have explained it beautifully and in much more detail than me. A lot of these so-called production experts on KZbin are talking out of their asses, just trying to package the shit that everyone who's serious about music production already knows with click bait titles. It was refreshing to see someone actually doing it the way it's supposed to be done. Mad respect to you and I'm sure a lot of people will learn from your videos. Best of Luck.

Oh man first 30 seconds sums exactly my most painful struggle in music production at the moment, haven't even watched the whole thing but Im all tuned in :) EDIT: Ok saw the whole.. Layering is definitely very powerful full to get origial and full sounds. Only lately I started to layer in a more deliberate way. Still need a lot of "ear mileage" for improve on that. Very helpful thank you

This is amazing, I feel how you feel, telling people about how it just "sounds good" but not knowing how to explain how I do it, and having this to show people is literally perfect

Tbh sound selection has been lost on myself since I'm using same sounds just for ghost productions and my own sound. Whenever I feel lost, I'll turn back to this video and remind myself how important new sound selection is. Thank you so much, Fikardo!

Love the video. Just thought I'd give you a little English tip, in case nobody's said it yet? "well" would be used as an adverb if it was modifying "sounds," but we say "It sounds good" because "sounds" is a linking verb, and it's really "it" that is being modified and therefore requires an adjective, "good." "It sounds good" is proper. You said it a lot in this video so just thought this might be helpful... thanks for the video. very very good. i already understood this general concept but seeing it explained so clearly makes me think about some of my unfinished tracks and how i should go back and analyze them based on the frequency spectrum.

Great tips! Layering sounds is always a good idea to get something that sounds familiar, but new. A few tricks I personally regular use is adding heads and tails to my sounds using some lush pads. For example working from MIDI move it forward or back and add violin, choir, drones etc. for easy mixing add some low/high pass depending on your need.

I had a realization that some sounds are alway together in our favourite songs The classic Boombap drums + Piano, or the Guitar+Flute+808 thing are an example My personal favourites are the soft sine/saw synths with portamento + r&b drums Big Far Reverb guitars + in your face fuzzy Bass(like those arctic monkeys records) Or the Dub delay melodica + very deep sub Bass I think contrast always work: Clean vs Dirty, Wet vs Dry, instruments with fast atack plus some soft ones, etc. Which sound combinations are your go to? And why do you think they work?
