There is a procedure to deploy SLATS only on the ground should you need too. OAT >30° where spurious WING LEAK ECAM cautions can pop up. 1. Ensure the wing area is clear. 2. Set the BLUE PUMP OVRD to ON (Overhead Maintenance Panel). 3. Select FLAPS 1 (only Slats extends). 4. When Slats extended - set the BLUE PUMP OVRD to OFF. 5. Select the Flaps Lever UP - this prevents inadvertent Flaps extension if HYD power is applied before Slats have been retracted. This is in our OMB but maybe in your FCOM. 👍

@Maks Terentev BLUE system powers Slats. GREEN system powers Slats and flaps and YELLOW system powers Flaps. You don’t want or need flaps out because the plumbing for the anti ice system is through the slats. So this is where the spurious wing leak caution can come from. So, all you need to do is deploy the slats to help prevent the spurious caution. To deploy slats only on the ground, you need to energise the blue system using the override Blue elec pump found on the maintenance overhead panel (behind the overhead CB panel). This will allow you to deploy slats only when moving the flaps lever to 1 on the ground. As a side note, the BLEED WING LEAK is a NO DISPATCH item so you don’t really want to get it on the ground. But, if you suspect it’s because of the hot weather, deploying the slats might clear it and you might be good to go. But a call to MOC would probably be prudent if it did come up. Best thing is to deploy the slats to mitigate it happening in the first place. Normally SOPs suggested doing this when it was over 30° OAT. And it used to say just leave flap 1 out in the taxi in. But, as 320 sim pilot says, the refueller might not be happy with this. In our SOPs there’s now no mention of the OAT so it’s now just down to experience and in-depth knowledge of the SOPs. Especially this one.

@Maks Terentev Smart Cockpit probably still has a lot of files (FCOM) etc. Not sure how up to date they’ll be though.

That was fascinating, thank you for sharing some of your knowledge. The video also highlighted how good the Fenix A320 is and those exterior shots were so close to real life video.

Thanks Paul! Indeed it is a fantastic model and it is a lot of fun to film in the simulator!

Super interesting video Captain. I remember years ago flying in a B717 island hopping in Hawaii when i got on the place there were curtains of mist flowing down on both sides of the place. It can get very warm and humid there. Learned many new things on this video.

Entered a 320 with a lot of condensation from the airflow once - lots of people thought the cabin was filling with smoke! I always assumed it was something to do with sanitising the cabin - good to know the reality. Thanks for another great video

Another brilliant video - great level of detail and excellent presentation as always ! There’s so much fascinating insight. I will now be able to tell my wife the answer to the mystery flap extension on the ground at Verona when we visited - I do accept that she may not be quite so interested to understand as I will be to tell her :)

That is the magic of a flight sim KZbin people, I finally have people who are interested in the Airbus to talk about it with for hours! Thanks for watching as always 4prawns, appreciate it.

Very interesting, thanks, Fascinating detail which I didnt know before. But what really hit me was how brilliant the overal standard of Flight Simulation is at the moment. The Fenix is excellent and full of details - but the scenery in MSFS itself is so realistic. The external shots at the end could easily have been real footage.

A really great and interesting video. Thanks so much for your great easy to understand explanations. I thought of a great question to ask you while watching the video but forgot what it was at the end🤔🤔 it called getting old😂

Thanks Christopher, glad you enjoyed it! I'm sure it will come back to you on a future stream, I regularly get sidetracked until I forgot the question during streams!

Worked on bleed air systems for 8 years, it depends on what stage you're pulling air from (most jet engines have a low stage, for idle engine operations, and high stage for any above idle operations of your bleed air systems... the trigger is how much psi youre pulling generally once your lowstage pushes out 50+ psi itll move over to the high stave valve trying to maintain a 40 +/- 5 psi so you dont blow a duct.) low stage can be anywhere from 300-350 degrees farenheit and high stage is anywhere from 400-500 degrees farenheit.

I always learn something new about A320. Clear explanations that make me keep coming back to flying the fenix. Remember getting on aircraft in vietnam and was surprised how foggy it was in the cabin. It was obvious it was to do with aircon and the weather but good to know more information. Keep em coming great Video as always.

Thank you for the video! I always wonder why they leave flap 1 after landing sometimes and for the first time that I noticed that I thought the pilot forgot the flap😂😂 Then I saw it more and more that I think it must be a procedure to reduce wear on flap because they were going to use flap 1 on the next take off anyway so why retract it and extend it again. But that’s not the reason why they put flap to 1 on ground after landing and i’m wrong🤣🤣
@320SimPilot2 жыл бұрын
You are welcome, thanks for watching and your comment! I see your logic and it would be a good idea but I suspect damage to the flaps/slats would be a higher risk :)

Hey is there any chance of more A32NX videos, I'm sure there's been a lot of additions since you last made a video on it. Also I don't want to pay £50 for the FENIX just yet. Thank you for all the work on the channel.
@sergecollin8094 Жыл бұрын
Great video. I understand why to keep the flaps into 1+F position to avoid the air leak alarm but if you have to retract them to allow refueling, what do you gain ? You will again have prone to get that spurious alarm.

Can you make a video that focuses on handling cold weather also? I have this problem with autopilot during decent and approach that it switches off itself and speedometer also goes crazy sometimes. And this happens when weather is really bad, like winter storm. And when I switch weather to clear skies and try again everything works... De-icing is on.

Good video. But no one talks ever about how if you sit there for long enough in hot qeather the engines won't start and all kinda of warnings come up on the ecam. Like oil twnp and what not. Had to set temp in aim to -15 for like to mins just to start the engines

my eng temps stay at ambient regardless of 'hot weather.' the engine temp doesn't increase without running? unless you're talking about the APU overheating, although..that is non-normal.

@simulacrae2 жыл бұрын
It’s understandable that the irl pilots prefer the Fenix, but plenty of streamers are going back and forth. The fbw will catch up systems wise at some point and then the usage will pick up.
@hjr20002 жыл бұрын
The Captain was involved with the production of the Fenix, though in a limited way. As such, he has some 'skin in the game' and I think wanting to showcase the Fenix is understandable. However, you make a good point about that brilliant piece of work, namely the FBW Airbus and the need to keep giving it the exposure it deserves.
