I know this must be hard work for you to put all of the subtitles together but for that I want to say, amazing job. Your way of just living normal life in Japan really has us understand regular everyday conversations that you cannot find in any textbook. It is great practice and I want you to know that I really appreciate the work you do. Please give us more. Simply spoken, and entertaining. Thank you for the work that you do.

Yusuke-san, this is epic! I've watched several videos about conbini vocab, but nothing beats the real thing. The small nuances and variations, the different accents are all lost when a teacher is presenting in a perfectly articulated Japanese, and here they are, all real as found in the wild! People on KZbin are usually reluctant to shoot in Japanese shops, because fair use doesn't exist and the official approval takes weeks if not months. Glad you've found a way to circumvent these restrictions. I can't even imagine the amount of work you put into editing. Deciphering the mumbling, making subtitles, blurring the faces, finding the oden ingredients... Simply fantastic. Ahh, the late night conbini, a blessing and a lonely place. Now I desperately want a snack, look at what you've done! Jk, thank you for a wonderful video! 本当にありがとうございます!

The biggest thing which I'd need to get used to is that small-talk basically doesn't exist. In the Netherlands you'd say stuff like "Thank you, have a nice day!" to each other after paying and in Japan that just doesn't seem to happen. I would feel so rude if I just left even if it isn't rude at all, haha.
@moshimoshi.yusuke
@moshimoshi.yusuke 3 жыл бұрын
For us, non-small talk doesn't feel rude, and most people don't mind it. But, to be honest, I feel convenience stores in Japan to be very mechanical. So I find it kind of lonely. I think it would be better to have that kind of communication in Japan as well. I guess it's a similar feeling to small talk in your country, we express our gratitude by bailing lightly rather than saying it out loud. It's interesting to see the differences in culture and customs.
@RiderOfTheRohirrim
@RiderOfTheRohirrim 3 жыл бұрын
@@dotmerah6713 Yo calm down. This is called 'talking about cultural differences'. In no way was I saying that not having small talk is bad (if anything, it's amazing). I didn't even say I was surprised by it, I merely said I would need to get used to it. You know, cultural differences always take time to get used to. Of course I don't expect anything to be like my home country, it's a completely different continent lmao. Why would you even assume something that stupid.
@moshimoshi.yusuke
@moshimoshi.yusuke 3 жыл бұрын
Each country has its own culture. We all know that. But we seem to need more. We all need to be tolerant, understanding that verbal misunderstandings may also occur. I hope you enjoy learning. Thank you!
@scheimaa172
@scheimaa172 3 жыл бұрын
@@moshimoshi.yusuke The Sad part is that even small talk becomes mechanical, it's just hard not to be mechanical if you're greeting a new customer every 30 seconds for 7 hours a day and then wishing them goodbye. But sometimes a customer is obviously interested in a nice quick interaction, so I try giving them that. Otherwise most people just want to quickly get out.

that seems so advanced. I cant think of a single convenience store in germany where they heat up your food for you at the counter or give you utensils. Now, most foods that you can eat out of the package have plastic utensils in them and theres food places where you can buy warm food, but the way it is in japan still feels even more convenient. Guess i gotta go to lidl and eat my beans cold :( Also gotta love that that one store was playing dont you want me by the human league but as like a convenience store remix, lol

I had just memorized Hirigana and Katakana and wanted to practice reading when this Video got recommended to me. I wasn't even learning Japanese on KZbin. Even though I already understand a lot of Japanese, there are some common words that I noticed for the first time, like the Word for aging people こうれいしゃ was totally new to me. This is just perfectly what I need right now, and since these are Subtitles, one easily check the pronunciation. ありがとうございます。

whats the difference between hirigana and katakana?
@user-kl3pl1gf7x
@user-kl3pl1gf7x 3 жыл бұрын
@@emerald442 Hiragana is the first script. they are simplified versions of kanji, and are used frequently in Japanese and for Japanese words. Example: とりにく toriniku, "chicken/bird meat" Katakana is the second script. They are made from small pieces (mnemonics) of kanji, and are a lot sharper-looking than hiragana. They are mainly used to spell words from other languages. Example: チーズ chizu, literally "cheese." While hiragana are used over kanji as furigana (little letters above kanji to help people understand the reading), you won't really ever see katakana used as furigana. You also will rarely see katakana used in Japanese words unless it's an onomatopoeia (word meant to mimic a sound, like bonk! clang! crash etc.) however there are so many foreign words used in Japanese that it's essential to learn both hiragana and katakana.

imo reading strictly hiragana and katakana won't really help with reading japanese but more with speaking/listening and remembering words
@user-kl3pl1gf7x
@user-kl3pl1gf7x 3 жыл бұрын
@@tigoid well... You do kind of need both to read... So... I highly recommend starting to read immediately after learning hiragana and katakana. Games like Pokemon are written entirely in hiragana and katakana and of course, as long as you know those alphabets, you can read ANYTHING that has furigana. it helps boatloads with reading, and I can't remember any kanji unless I first see it with kanji and furigana above it multiple times while reading
@tigoid
@tigoid 3 жыл бұрын
@@user-kl3pl1gf7x yeah to be able to read you obv need to know both, and furigana is definitely the way to go but my point is without learning any kanji it's gonna be very difficult to read even simple sentences. They can read きょう everyday but the moment they see 今日 they're stumped
