Thanks for the video Chino. Right with you on the content side. I now occasionally blog for the same reason. If I see something not covered and needs to be or if there is a specific opinion on a select feature or service that I feel needs to be heard. I get pressure from certain parts of the community that said you should always make the content regardless of anyone else, but that’s just noise.

Hello Chino! Great video, I have been struggling with uploading file to an SharePoint list, using JSON and so on. It worked, but this way simpler. What I can't figure out is, what to do when the attachment is removed or when an extra attachment, or even delete the saved attachment. Could you consider to make a video about that to? Would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance

Awsome video thank you Chino! Another interesting topic would be how to attach the file to an email sent through a flow. As for example in a ticketing system. Do you maybe have a hint on how to implement this?

Just Watched this video and it is great. only one issue. if a user is attaching a file with the exact same name as an other user already has uploaded, that already exising file will be overwritten with the document the newer user had attached. So, you lose the old document.

Yes...I did address this in the comment section on part 1 of this series of videos. When you are saving the file to SharePoint, append the ID of the record to the start of the filename I.e "1_filename.jpg". When you are displaying the file in your app gallery, you can just strip this from the file name with a simple string formula if you don't want the extra characters. This will ensure that files are always saved with unique file names.

Super Easy... Just add a trash icon to the gallery item and on select do Remove(ThisItem)

Hey JR....thanks for your comment, Makes it all worth while :) I guess the way the document opens depends on the type of document.. if it's a pdf then it's a fair bet that the user will only open it as read only...if it's a doc then it may open in word or some other doc editor

Ultimately, I’m try to stop them from editing the one on the server and not know the actual Sharepoint library address so that they can’t go hunting around…Like some people do. I won’t admit to doing that myself in the past 😀… if I were to do that in the past, it would’ve been to help me learn more skills, but you can’t trust everyone to just looky, but no touchy. 😅

@@jray1429 Well, I mean the file opens in the another window but from within the Document Library and then all one would have to do is backtrack in the hyperlink and be able to see all the files that any user has submitted. I like this method, I am just trying to figure out a way for a bit of a more secure process.

I'm using the Flow method to upload documents to a document library. I'm using the attachment control that I copied from a form for the upload. I wondered if there's a way to display the uploaded files in the attachment control when revisting the submitted record, or do I need to show uploaded files in a gallery? This makes for an awkward user experience because for the upload I'm using an attachment control then for editing submitted records I need to show a gallery. What if the user needs to add more files to the ones already uploaded?

Hey Chino, awesome set of videos regarding attachments, I really like the approach you took. Thank you for the hard work and your time to put these together. You might have seen my comment below in response to another user concerning snooping around a library. As you know, all I'd have to is reduce the URL to the root site of the doc library and be able to see everyone's files they have submitted. I have seen some methods in which a power automate creates a subfolder for each submission and stores each file in there. Before I go down that route, I was wondering have you thought about any other methods rather than the one I mention above, creating subfolders per submission, that I may be missing?

If security is a big concern then you could look at setting individual file permissions via the power automate wf.. just make sure you retain governance over the files via some kind of admin permission

This is a much nicer way to show attachments, the normal way that gets the user to download them really bugs me... I dont want to create retention issues! I might try and spice this up with a thumbnail in a horizontal gal, more because I have the space on that page.

I guess I just presumed most people now understand the principles and have worked out how to do attachments on their own.
