Mi familia es originaria de allí. Me encantaría ir hasta allí, aunque es muy lejos. Todos quienes vinieron de allí lamentablemente han fallecido. Anhelo pisar esa tierra y conocer a alguien que sepa decirme dónde moraban los Bonica, los Taranto y los Umina. Saludos desde Argentina!!!

Bonica is with one "n" Capisce ? Also the population left long before the "mafiosi" issue due mainly to lack of food. They left all behind including their houses and family members that were aged. The remaining people simply stole their property and by way of "uso capione" made it their own. The people of Filicudi live exceptionally well nowadays due to the abandonment of the place by circa 85% of the population from 1949 to 1955. The ones who did the stealing now boast of how many houses they own and how well off they all are. Thanks to the ones who left it all due mainly to the "fame" che cera. The dream of tourists coming to Filicudi that Stefano Ferlazzo had has prevented the island from being totally abandoned. Please don't overly romanticise the island and keep in mind that the people left because they required the basics that Italy could never provide. I was born in Filicudi [localita Canale] in 1945 and arrived in Australia in 1953. I have returned many times the last time was October 2019.
