Mang Inasal really helped me a lot when I was still a med student back in Manila City. There were times I wasn't able to eat or had a full lunch the whole day so I ended up very hungry. So before I travel for 2 hours back home I usually eat at Mang Inasal with my usual order of 2 barbecues and unli rice which I usually consume 5-6 rice.

Mang Inasal is a good intro to Philippine cuisine as a fastfood, because their main product is a more commercial version of the authentic inasal from Bacolod and Iloilo, they have halohalo and pancit palabok, and Filipino style pork bbq. A real homestyle Filipino restaurant can be expensive and a random carinderia can sometimes be disappointing, but Mang Inasal has that quality control. An almost authentic taste with convenience of fastfood.
@Kevin-TravelsАй бұрын
Yeah I think it's good spot to start for tourist😁 should try halohalo too next time😋

Watching this video from Southern California, and here I am at 5am in the morning, mouth is watering for that Mang Inasal chicken with these sauces/condiments gently splashed on top of the rice, pressed and mixed, reminds me you've had your experience of Pinoy eating on a roll. That litte tiny bites of siling labuyo, hot local pepper that loves them, creates a picture of Filipinoness. Unlimited rice? You know your Pinoy stuff, hahaa! Keep it up!
@Kevin-TravelsАй бұрын

Sometimes, you can ask the locals how to eat and which condiments to use. For instance, if you bite into a piece of chili, you can create a small mix in a saucer with chili, soy sauce, and calamansi or vinegar, which makes a great dip for your chicken. .. welcome to Ph, enjoy your stay.
@Kevin-TravelsАй бұрын

I'm only up to this video in your series so far and I don't even know if you're still in the Philippines. I would recommend trying Kare Kare with the bagoong (shrimp paste). It's my favorite and I wouldn't say it's common to find, but a real dining treat when you can find a good serving of it. If you make it to the Tagaytay area, which is south of Manila, on the same island, There is a restaurant I recommend called "Leslie's". They do an excellent job with traditional filipino foods. Servings are meant for more than 1 person, so bring people with you to share. Watching from Florida.

The sauce is for the chicken not the rice Kevin. The rice will balance the rich taste of whatever it is paired with. I think the rule of not putting any sauce on steamed rice is applied to most Asian cuisines. Enjoy.

I like that you are using the knife and spoon perfectly Filipino style. I see many foreign bloggers not used to eating that way and they just use the spoon and therefore end up using their other hand to push the food. Enjoy the cuisine and there’s more to eat and savor locally.

The soy sauce is for the chicken dip like a gravy of the chicken
@Kevin-TravelsАй бұрын
Yeah locals do it like this, but for me personally chicken is very well flavored. I don't need to add extra saltiness to my chicken. It almost becomes too salty then. So I just eat chicken as it is. I prefer my rice to be flavored with oil and soy sauce :D

That little boy was selling ice candy. It’s a frozen fruity or milky liquid treat. You should have given him some loose change even if you didn’t want to buy from him. You gave 5 pesos to the bakery man didn’t you?
@Kevin-TravelsАй бұрын
Yeah should have, but its weird to give people who are selling something coins without buying. I don't wanna be disrespectful, he was not a beggar.
@eriksgvАй бұрын
@@Kevin-Travels Not really weird in the Philippines. Kids selling something on the streets will appreciate a monetary gift over an ube hopia. Or you can ask the price of the item and give them the amount without taking the product if you don't want it. That ice candy couldn't be much more than 15 or 20 pesos. 😃
@kinjazplayground6784Ай бұрын
I disagree with this if you want to help the kid I suggest you to buy him some food instead of giving him money because maybe he is part of a child slavery who beg for someone else benefit.

Everybody has the freedom to give or not to give. Give the guy a break, giving money to kids is not mandatory. Besides he finds it unusual to give a tip or money without buying anything.
