This isn't a Mortal Kombat game and I've witnessed unnecessary life and death threatening injuries because people go over the top. If the opponent is neutralized there isn't any need to go further depending on the threat level of the situation at hand. But killer's will be killer's no matter who they work for or how they're trained. All they know is " FINISH HIM! "

That might be the reason why proactive violence leading to clandestine behaviour (cooperation maintenance hypothesis: not peer reviewed) is normalized in chimpanzees and humans compared to pan paniscus society based on more or less egalitarian female/male coalitions and playful prosociality/sociosexuality for promotion of group stability regardless of age and gender as a byproduct of domestication syndrome (Richard Wrangham).

Yet the Philippines National Army and Law Enforcement are in close contact with U.S Marines and other American soldiers with training tactics. It’s something different and it’s really cool. The Marines learned this first hand. This is where the nickname "leatherneck" comes from. In the Philippines the fighters would get in close with Marines and carve them to pieces. At that time in history hand to hand fighting was erroneously regarded as irrelevant. And thus now we have the modern Marine Corps who teaches advanced close combat as standard battle doctrine. Philippino fighters showed the very world just how dangerous a skilled man with a blade can be.

The goal of the technique is to " unarm" the attacker. If you cant evade it at step 1, the attacker will win. Almost always Filipinos dont like to engage fights and will walk away. But if you pushed us to the ground, What you see is basic technique used in street fights. Girl or boy we know how to do this. We slap hands of the attacker to unarm. Filipina women slaps the face of a man who disrespects us.

@@dianaverano7878the only problem with what you said on this comment board is that no knife fight happens without somebody getting grabbed and stabbed. First, your opponent will grab you. Then, when you're wrestling under their grasp, they will stab you. Repetitively. With vigor. Knife fighting is NOT what you think. Nobody wins, only survives.

@@treybowers154 as much as possible we dont want to engage in street fights with a weapon. But I live in manila. And yes, sometimes bad people here who wants to steal have a gun or blade. So the typical Filipino learned a lot to cope up. Either run, or defend yourself. There is no other way with street fights

As early, Filipino kids imitate what they see on tv. Kicking, playing with plastic weapons. Girl or boy we do that. You havent seen our typical Filipino games like Shato or Shatong. The stick flies to your face unless you caught it by your hand. We are not scared at all by flying sticks, we learned this as kids 😂

It’s the “you have to get out of the way” part that is the most tricky. For that. You need to have quick reflexes and counter at the same time. Practice helps but it’ll never be 100%.

Sword fighting with cut and thrust weapons like sabres, short swords, arming swords, or even longswords can take you a long way in that direction. If you stick at it long enough you could be able to efficiently block strikes into a disarm or a grapple. It seems really hard when you start but it begins to come natural when someone swings anything at you.

I saw someone defending against 3 people yesterday! I immediately ran to go help because my wife convinced me to. When I came back, she’s asked what happened? I told her that guy had no chance against us 4.

The hardest punch I've ever received was from a Filipino Marine. The guy was barely 5'3". I went down like a ton of lead.

No two ways about it Filipino Knife fighting is among the deadliest in the world. What surprises me is Filipinos can be the most caring people you would ever want to meet. The world powers have taken their country for granted.

Kababayan, this technique is basic for us. Any Filipino will defend himself, it is in our blood if PUSHED TO THE GROUND. 1. Evade weapon 2. Slap the hand to unarm Even Filipina slaps a man's face if disrespected, right? 😂

Self defense does not mean you need to kill your enemy, if it is possible you always avoid killing anybody, preserve life at all times.

Taking another person's life is the last and most basic kind of defence, but the real art of defence is learning a martial art such that no one can hurt you while also having the duty to protect everyone else's life.

These dudes aren't stupid playing pretend with some outfits dressing like a secret service agent, Samurai, or some ninja....... CHECK.. it's certainly nice seeing someone who actually knows there way around a blade. And i don't mean some guy who watches way too much anime.

Bad Filipino guys in the Philippines like thieves comes with knives. So every Filipino knows that if placed in that type of situation, You evade, or run or face him off. Almost always we like to evade. But if left no choice, we defend.
