They are real cops because in every department of The Armed Forces of The Philippines they have a band, like In the Philippine Marine, Philippine Airforce, Philippine National Police, Philippine Navy and others. Sometimes they have friendly competitions and in Christmas time they also entertain prisoners. They even join competitions on National TV. There are also dance groups, Dancing Policemen and Dancing Traffic Enforces to entertain drivers and passengers to avoid stress on traffic.

Each military units in the Philippines have their own bands. I'm from the Air Force and before there's an annual battle of the bands between airbases. When we had an elementary reunion party, the Army SOLCom band played for us.

When I was a kid way back in 1975, my mother and I, through her connections, hitched a ride on a Naval ship transporting Marines from Zamboanga to Manila. It was a three nights and two days trip. On the last night before arriving in Manila, the Marines and their wives held a singing party that turned out into a wild impromptu concert where their best singers entertained us. And these were combat veterans fresh out from clashes in Jolo during the height of the MNLF battles and yet, for a while, I thought I was in a real concert.

I saw a video yesterday of cops having a concert while there is a protest rally. They drowned out the noise of the protesters although they are really far away from the line of the riot police which separates the 2 groups. It was hilarious to me but very commendable.
