The funny thing is, Marcelito Pomoy is not 'unique' or a 'first' in the Philippines. There was a contest on TV ages ago where, way before he won AGT, singers were expected to do a duet by themselves. There are countless Filipinos and Filipinas in singing contests all over the world, including The Voice UK, where Liverpool-born Rain Castillo was second place some years ago. There was the Filipina X-Factor Romania winner, Bella Santiago, who covered Rolling in the Deep "KZ style." Last year, Filipina teen Chriztel Aceveda won Croatia's Got Talent. She had moved there when her mother got married to a Croatian and was able to sing some local folksongs perfectly. 4th Power, now 4th Impact, got quite far on X-Factor UK about a decade ago.
