I've got an acquaintance named Phil and earlier when someone called him I would think they said "fill" like fill something with something. Cool story.

Yes, that's a confusing one, Alisa, because "fill" and "Phil" are pronounced exactly the same. Context is the only way you would know which word is being said in that case!

Please make a video about the difference between ran, ren, rain and rang. Thanks a million

Hi David--I will definitely add that to my list. However, it could take quite some time before that happens because I've got a long list of video requests ahead of it! If you'd like quicker assistance with this, may I suggest something? You could take advantage of the free 7-day trial at Pronunciation Pro and come to one of my weekly study groups during your free trial. That way I could help you with these words in a live context, with immediate feedback, without the long wait time. If you decide you don't want to stick with the program you could always cancel before the 7 days is finished and you wouldn't have to pay anything. Just a suggestion! 🙂

Hi, when saying letter l, do you use dark l or light l, /ɛl/, I think to use dark l to pronounce it, right? Thank you very much and have a great day.
@pronunciationsnippets2 ай бұрын
Yes, when you are saying the name of the letter, it's pronounced /el/, so that means that a vowel sound is occurring before that L, and that would make it a dark L.

and you could add "fuel"

Yes! I actually thought about this after I already had the video made and published. Are you asking about how to say this word, or are you just commenting that it belongs in this group?

I used to struggle hearing the difference between the words Future and Feature until a teacher of mine showed me that the I had to practice hearing the vowel sounds /yoo/ vs /ee/ /fyoo/ vs /fee/ / /FYOOcher/ vs /FEEcher/

@@pronunciationsnippets I'm currently practicing word stress and sentence stress. My ears are able to hear native Engish speakers much better now. Leaning about syllables word stress and sentence stress really made a big difference in my speaking and listening skills.

For sure! That's what gives the language its distinct sound. Good for you--keep paying attention to the sounds, and you'll experience great results over time!
