Following up on the bit about the 13 year old wanting to get more tools for woodworking: He needs to be safe of course, so if i was in the position of his parents I'd be looking for someone to mentor him in the right way (safe way) to approach woodworking projects. Maybe an evening class, or some 1-1 mentoring through an organisation like "Mens Sheds" like we have here in the UK. Also, while no one wants him to cut anything off, he's going to cut himself eventually, so perhaps a first aid course might be appropriate? He needs to know what to do to fix himself up, and also when professional (e.g. ER) help is needed. And he needs a decent first aid kit in the shop.

I took Jr. High shop class when I was 13 -- mostly woodworking, with a bit of metal work.

My new shop building has the same type of LED strip lighting that Matt uses and it's been outstanding. Other than at my bandsaw, I don't use any "task lighting". The nice thing about the LED lighting is that it's very economical and is still strong enough to provide "surface of the sun" even mounted on the bottom of the trusses that are 10' up in the air.

I'm starting to make more room in my woodworking for "fun" projects, as well as projects without filming. Makes a huge difference, especially when combined with the idea of "stop comparing yourself to everyone else." Another great show, gentlemen!

Another great show. Marc & Shannon’s cameras look fantastic, Sir Matt needs some work… Maybe clean the lens? 😂 Great to have y’all back.

Glad to have you guys back. This episode hit a familiar note. I too need to fill my holes with woodworking but have no need to build large projects. I found that turning wood on the lathe fits the bill and the wood is free you just have to look around the neighborhood or use up some scraps. Good advice not to compare yourself with professional wood workers on the internet and just enjoy your time in the shop!

What's going one here guy's this kid already has the MOST DANGEROUS TOOL IN WOODWORKING THE LATHE! His parents are absolutely CLUELESS! The stationary jig saw is toddler safe compared to the lathe. This kid can handle any power tool on the market, this is wood shop age young man!

FYI you can get a melamine shelf rather than a whole 4x8 sheet. I did that once when I only had a lunchbox and needed to plane some bed rails, and wanted the extra support. I put a roller stand under each end for support.

Yep Cam at Blacktail definitely jumpstarted the whole wood-and-plastic table top thing. I thought its 15 minutes of fame would have run out by now. I guess Total Boat is making a mint in the meantime.

LED lights are not reflective light, which cause shadows, rather than reflecting from other surfaces and filling in.

Question. For the You Tube version, why does Mark and Shannon's video look like a nice, sharp, 4k image, and Matt's video looks like 256 bit camera with a Vaseline smeared lens. The content is great but visually could be better!
