That looks very expensive. I kinda want one, but I would need to practice my calligraphy. Edit: Think I found the pen. Its around $600. A different one went for $1000. You have to be very serious about your calligraphy if you are gonna get one of these.

all you need is an oblique pen holder if you want to practice, that will be much better than a ton of pens for a wide price range you also don’t need a >300 fountain pen to practice on the go, you just need a pen with line variation something like the pilot justus or falcon if you have the money though a very nice fountain pen is well, very nice you don’t really need calligraphy skills if you want a fountain pen, there are a lot of nibs that act as regular pens basically

One issue with the demo. It says it’s double reservoir. It also looks like u can put the pen in the ink, then pull up on the plunger to fill the first reservoir and then back down to fill the second reservoir

As long as the ink is for fountain pens. There are calligraphy inks that will jam the fountain pen's feed.

Any colour but avoid india ink ( it dries water resistant in your pen) and avoid shimmering ink (the particles gunk up your nib)

Was always wondering how good fountain pens are for traveling? I do write at my own place but not a ton so I was wondering whether ink can escape these reservoirs easily or not?

Since this pen has a double reservoir power filler, it it suitable for travel. To prevent any possibility of leaking, you can release ink from the forward reservoir into the main reservoir and seal it using the valve.

I carry a passport-sized traveler's notebook with a fountain pen with me nearly everywhere I go, including when I fly, drive, or walk. The pen I carry is not quite as expensive as the Visconti pen, however. For my travel pen I use a Lamy Safari EF, a functional, bauhaus, style pen. I've been using these as everyday pens since 1980 when they first came out. Goldspot Pens sells these. In it I'm currently using Pilot Iroshizuku take-sumi (black) ink, also sold by Goldspot Pens. Today I use my expensive pens at home when writing letters or taking notes on something I'm reading, etc. (P.S. I'm not longer working so don't feel the need to carry an expensive pen.)

Hi Brendan, the Homo Sapiens might still burp if the pen is being exposed to heat (think direct sunlight in the summer heat) or changes in air pressure. I would suggest letting a small amount of ink into the feed and then tightening the blind cap to prevent burping. Any time you need more ink, open the blind cap again to let a little more through.

These pens are not meant for college/school students. There are cheaper pens like the lamy safari and the twisbi eco for students. This is something that should be cherished and cared for. Also, why can you not buy these in your school days? My son is in high school and uses an e95s.

Sorry, think I'll stick with great grandma's pen. Pull the lever all the way forward and dip in ink, then slowly pull the arm back flush with the main body. Wipe off and ready to write. Darn thing is from the mid twenties and still works great 👍
