Thanks for introducing the Kaweco piston filler to me. Now we can finally stop using cartridges in a Sport. And inky fingers are a trademark of most fountain pen users. Same here.

Thank you for watching. Yes, we can stop using cartridges. Although I prefer cartridges, I confess. I re-use them by filling with a syringe.

Re filling mess on hands. I haven’t filled a piston pen but I have converters in my pens and I finally learned to wear gloves. I buy “nitrile exam gloves” at my local hardware store … big box. I wear a pair for any messy chore. 😊

I don't like inky fingers but I don't like gloves too... I think gloves are the way to go if one doesn't like ink on the hands.

Thank you for the video, I was going to buy it but if the capacity is the same, I'm going to skip it and just get a Kaweco in aluminum, I'm not going to fork 155 euros for a standard kaweco with a pretty handle.
@OdE-ObjectosdeEscritaАй бұрын
(sorry for the late reply!) I understand. I don't think Kaweco made this for the increased ink capacity, but for the filling experienced that users asked for for a long time.
@markferguson33656 ай бұрын
It may be the same capacity as a cartridge, but its more than the small converter for the sport. Also cartridges are more expensive to use, new cartridges, than bottle inks.
@OdE-ObjectosdeEscritaАй бұрын
(sorry for the late reply!) Sure, the small converters don't take up much ink. And cartridges are more expensive. But I often refill empty cartriges with a syringe from a bottle.

Thank you for a preview of the awaited piston filler 😃👍💕 I was wondering if the nib and feed are friction fit; Kaweco site also indicates a need nib 190 highlighting different nib housing for this pen, but curious if existing 060 premium or 14k nibs can be replaced by friction fitting 😊
@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita8 ай бұрын
The feed housing is different and the feed also. The nib is the same. So you can push a 060 premium nib into this unit, pairing it with the the new feed.

Did you measure the ink capacity yourself? To only have 1 cartridge of ink capacity is disappointing. I have heard that it is more than a cartridge (which is about 0.7ml)
@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita8 ай бұрын
No. I don't have a proper laboratory scale to do it with such precision. It is the information on the paper sleeve, over the tin... It is like the cartridge, but with a different filling experience (from the bottle).
@EnCwoisant8 ай бұрын
@@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita can you weigh the pen empty and full with a mg scale? The difference in grams is the number of ml since 1 gram water = 1 ml

Thanks for the filling demonstration, looking forward to the full review. The fact it only holds capacity equivalent to an ink cartridge terrifies me.
@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita8 ай бұрын
The review is done, now! A cartridge is, for me, enough ink for a while. But yes, I think most people expecte a larger ink capacity. But how to do it in such a small barrel? Maybe, for the people who need more ink capacity maybe a plastic Sport using it as an eyedropper pen?
@katydcat17377 ай бұрын
Looks beautiful, but I prefer the convenience of cartridges to avoid the messy job. Clean cut operation with cartridges!
@十十十-s1y7 ай бұрын
@@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita Yes, Sport is a tiny pen for piston-filler and the mechanism is quite burdensome, yet it is still using inner width of the barrel. So it could be seen as a really short eyedropper when not considering the piston (in which I expect a little bit more than current specs)... And I think the old piston sport has slightly higher capacity than this modern counterpart? Now think about it, I kinda wish they will make actual eyedropper sport out of this design: O-ringed screw-in nib unit, sealed body with ink window, and hidden rear knob for operating ink stopper.
