I have always wanted to go in that train yard. Wish I could (I’ve been through while in a train)

What was the purpose of these trips which you so beautifully recorded? Did you tell the back story somewhere else you can point me to? I was gonna ask if you knew how lucky you were, but your smile says yes.

I worked for SP in the 1980s and worked on that track, we were ripping it out from San Fernando road all along McBean and ended at orchard st. When SP abandoned it. Stiil exactly as we left it since about 1984ish. I looked at it on Google earth from Florida!

They never should have abandoned that line!

They need to reconnect this rail line to Santa Clarita.
@stripervince14 жыл бұрын
It would be great to reconnect but probably couldn't work. I haven't lived in Calif in 25 years so I don't know whats been built in Newhall Saugus Valencia and canyon country since then. I'm sure tons of houses strip malls etc. From what I could see from Google earth, where we left off in Piru at orchard st, eastbound is mostly a rails to trails bike path almost the entire way to where it used to connect in Newhall at the now metrolink line north to Lancaster. Part of it went along McBean, in front of the hospital and in front a mall if I remember. It is still a connection westbound in Ventura at the coast line. I read Ventura wanted to bring it back too

@@stripervince1 . Its not impossible. They could elevate the line through the Santa Clara riverbed. It would be money well spent because you could have daily metrolink service between E Ventura and DTLA. And maybe between Antelope Valley and E Ventura on weekends.

Rocky Racoon that would be awesome if they did that. You should see some of the pics I have of it when I was working there. If you go on google earth and punch in orchard st lake piru, and then use the street view you can see the end of the tracks about 200 feet from orchard st. Right around the other way eastbound is one of those famous metal arch bridges over piru creek. I’ve seen it on episodes of Barnaby Jones and Rockford files. Piru was a favorite town for a lot of those 70s tv shows

@@stripervince1 . Thanks! Yep, nothing is impossible. The reconnection can be done with just enough political will!
