This was a wonderful little snippet, i need to check out the full length conversation. Goddard puzzles me. I dont much like him or his films (except Le Mepris, which I adore ) and his idea of what cinema should be i found to be rigid and lacking in something that would engage me on a level other than acknowledging how he changed the language of cinema. In my mind he created the tool, but there were many better artists that scultped with it. Still...I sometimes find myself reading about the man and his films aha Cheers Rob

Thanks, Sam. Did he say cinema should be a certain way ? I like a lot of his 60s movies, and I've come around to really like his post 70s work but more so when he's dealing with narrative and not filmed essays. I hope you enjoy the full interview!

@@RobertBellissimoAtTheMovies well he never said what it should be, I phrased that wrong, but his films very much are pointing out the artefactual nature of film and their illusionary qualities, at least in my experience. I like meta commentary and being self aware, but his style doesn't connect with me. Still a fascinating person, regardless.

My favorite Godard film is Le Mépris (Contempt). And I like his '60s stuff of course 2:54 Yes, I also didn't pay attention post-1970; maybe I should.
