​@vg82 Islamic influence comes in form of costume aswell. The mangtika is worn on the left u like in the middle. This is just one gharana though. The rest are based on "kathas" mainly depicting Lord Krishna's tales. Mughal influence cannot be written off but it certainly wasn't invented by "Islam"

Iram is so right about everthing. She is speaking for all of us trying to make fiction and non fiction films in Pakistan. So many challenges we have to face. Navigating the western gaze, festivals, film markets, making rent, managing local demands and constraints, and then trying to make a decent film without having any real resources and industry infrastructure. It feels like a thankless job at times but I think we love doing it that's why we keep doing. That's why Pakistani filmmakers have managed to achieve so much in the past 15 years. Our documentary about classical qawwali played at Tasveer as well and we got some offers for VOD distribution at the marketplace. But only we know how difficult it was to make that film in this country.

Excuse me ..Kathak was invented by Muslims? Never heard before. Kathak word derived from sanskrit word Katha and kathakar means story and storyteller. Some improvisation was done during the mughal era, but Kathak is one of the ancient form of indian classical dance.

Sadly, Honour killings are a real fact in the Arab, Afghan, Pakistani and Indian world. There's a whole film on this issue where it was dealt with with a jati/Varna part of the actual system in our state of Maharashtra, The name of the film is Sairat, it was a blockbuster (in case if you heard the original song Zingaat, which went viral a few years back). It happens in rural areas even now. I wish men don't get to decide on what is suitable for a woman and her body, and her rights. Thankfully, we have a law in India that recognised marital rape of women which happens all over India by our misogynistic society. I wish people irrespective of caste, languages, religion rise above all that and realise that this is a real issue that our culture is plagued with and we have to make a collective effort on it. Look at Japan, Denmark, Finland - they have set standards for women without even using the word "feminism" once !!

GAWDDD Shehzad the BBC documentary on Nirbhaya was banned because it revealed the identity of the victim and it was not common at all during that time considering social media was not as common then as it is now. Even news channels that revealed her name faced action during that time with cases filed against them, because it is against the law (even today but now apps like instagram and all have made it impossible to track everyone who reveals, and it's still not allowed by news channels and all to reveal the identity). It was not about reputation or something.

It's a domino effect pakistani audience come to cinema halls to watch Indian movies Money generated by ticket sales sustain cinema halls and multiplexes Multiplexes get profit and this allows them to give few shows to pakistani movies Thus , pakistani film industry will survive because of Indian films And if cinema halls in pakistan keep shutting down , there is very little chance of another Maula Jatt being created .
