That's quite funny😊maybe, it was the pickled cabbage which tipped him over the edge, oh and the dumplings, Simon was shocked when the chap said it was Goose, he was thinking it was a chicken leg. You can't take the Welsh man anywhere😅

Another masterclass "out and about" Simon. Nothing rehearsed, not trying too hard, comes across really natrual so it's easy to watch. You are polite to your hosts without being up their arses. Stone the Crows mate, bloody loved it👍👍👍

Top notch video Simon! Absolutely loved this one. Wonderful moment when you pick up the Hungarian IPA thinking it’s the pilsner then proceed to blend the two together 🙌🏻 was glued to the tv for the entire video 🍻

Simon you are spot on again. The Victorian style of the Chain Bridge is not accidental. It was designed by an Englishman called William Tierney Clark and constructed by the Scot Adam Clark (I think they are not related despite the same name). The Hungarian Count István Széchenyi was the primary driving force behind the project. During a visit to England in 1832, he sought inspiration for bridge design and was particularly impressed by Hammersmith Bridge in west London. The Hammersmith Bridge looks somewhat different now, but if you look at a picture in its original state, it is almost identical with the Budapest Chain Bridge. The bridge was finished in 1849, just after the suppressed Hungarian Revolution against Habsburg Austria. Adam Clark liked it so much in Hungary, he married and settled down there. He also constructed the tunnel next to the bridge. Believe it or not, it is the 2nd permanent bridge across the Danube, the first being the Stone Bridge in Regensburg, Germany (also very impressive, worth a visit), which was built in the 1140s (!!!). So 700 years long the 2,850 km long Danube from the Swiss - German border to the Black Sea had only one permanent bridge. The Nazis destructed all the bridges across the Danube in Budapest as they retreated at the end of World War II, but each one was rebuilt. Unfortunately the Elizabeth Bridge got a puristic communist design (which is a crying shame, it used to be the most beautiful bridge in Budapest), but the Chain Bridge, the Freedom Bridge (Franz Josef Bridge) and the Margaret Bridge, got their original beauty back.

@@djonfonsteen6331 and if the 3 "beer spies" from Bavaria and Austria, Georg Sedlmayr, Anton Dreher and Georg Lederer, hadnt been to Scotland to get inspired by the malt percolating machine, which isolated the smoke from the barley, our lager beer (which was invented by Dreher in Vienna) and the Munich style Helles (invented by Sedlmayr at Spaten Brewery) would perhaps still taste like the Aecht Schlenkerla smoked beer of Bamberg. Legend has it that they had hollowed walking sticks in which they stole samples in Scottish breweries to analyse and copy.
