Film Photography Afghan Box Camera

The Afghan Box Camera so named as it has been used Afghanistan for more than a 100 years. It is a camera cum darkroom all built into a box.
This allows a photographer to quickly produces a print even on the street. This is my second Afhan box camera that I built but for this one i actually order the the exterior box from China.

I have been doing fim photography, darkroom printing since 2003. Since then, I have also been doing alternative processes such as albumen printing, kallitype printing, wet plate and dry plate photography. My favorite cameras are the Nikon FM2 and Nikon F2 and my favorite films are Fomapan 100, Kodak Ektar, Fujifilm Velvia, Rollei Superpan. with The various genres of photography I enjoy doing are landscape photography, portrait photography,

it is the fujinon 210mm W f5.6. I have it for my 4x5 camera and resuse it for the box camera too. here is good resource page for Fujinon lenses including this 210mm www.thalmann.com/largeformat/fujinon.htm

This is great idea, maybe I can try one myself. I have a Fujinon SW 90mm/f8

Show us if you make one. 90mm is a bit wide but that also means yr box can be shorter in length.

Analogue Photography Talk Yes., the flange is 99.2mm. On 4x5 I will get 24mm focal length.

@@wallpaperviking if u see at 00:36, that is how the box looks when it arrived. After working on it including sawing the various holes, adding the side trimming, craving out rhe chinese character , varnishing etc myself then it became the box camera you see in the rest of the video . Cost abt usd$60 in total but i used a shipping company to ship over by sea. Actually u can get some plywood pieces and make the box yrself.

@@wallpaperviking haha I see. My first camera was not show in this video. The first camera i built from scratch by buying the plywood pieces and building up the box myself using wood screws.

yes, usually by contact or sometimes i reshoot the negative to get a positive. I heard abt enlarger for paper negative. that must be cool!

Have you ever tried it with the harman direct positive paper?

not yet but it should works well too. probbaly need to do a preflash to control the contrast of the positive paper.

thank you for your comment. You are right that these kind of camera are known "camaras minuteras". Sometimes also know as streetbox camera.
