Still doesn't feel real that we're about to enter a new season with an actual NFL OC and QB. It's so exciting man

QB? You mean the one two hall of fame coaches threw to the curb?
@Scare284 ай бұрын
@@PatriotWatchUSA Wilson wanted out of Seattle and Sean Payton has a very particular type of QB that he wants on top of quite literally sabotaging Russ.. plus all I said was an NFL caliber QB, which is quite the step up from Pickett who will probably end up being a backup for the rest of his career. So yes we went from the worst OC the league has seen in a long time and a backup level QB to an NFL level OC and QB

Man, great break down boss, pumped to see this in action... Thank you! 2 questions. Hollins is ALONE on that last play. Because of the immediateness of that drift route, can that even be a read, or do you have to read the drift all the way because of how quick that closes? I could see Wilson taking that shot. Also, with the athletic ability of the tackles, could you see Arthur using them as the puller and leaving the wr/te play side to help create explosive plays?
@Steelers_DB4 ай бұрын
Appreciate you watching! Usually the drift is 1, the other side will be 2 prior to a check down. That route you’re referring to is most often a swirl (7-stop) or a blaze out at 18-20 yards. Those are the combos I see most often. To your other question, pulling the tackles on this particular play isn’t really feasible but there are plenty of other options there. I’ve seen him run DART (tackle pull) sparingly but the Steelers were very good on this concept last year. I hope he leans into it more. He’ll also run some toss stuff which you can get the tackles in space on that.

They ran counter mostly w Warren unless it was traditional where It was more split. But either could do it. For OL, I think Smith’s scheme requires athleticism for sure. He preaches toughness a lot as well but every coach talks a lot about that.

Cannot wait to see what the (ex-Falcon HC) 7-10 Arthur Smith brings . He is coming from ONLY division of the #8 in NFL without double digit victories. NFL division where #9 wins captured the division title ('23); Big news because #8 wins did it the year prior ('22) ... NEITHER were Arthur Smith's teams.... Arthur Smith couldn't even manage a runner up campaign in that "WORST division". He logged 3rd place all #3 yrs. NFC South over Arthur Smiths time there.... #3 years & #4 teams nets #12 campaigns.. In said #3 yrs. only one single campaign with double digit victories. Just a quick contrast with AFC North where Arthur Smith landed... Same #12 Campaigns, NFC South: #3 playoff teams (IF parity & no demand division winner ...would only be #1) AFC North: ONLY #3 sub 500 records, #6 double digit victory; #7 playoff participants seven to one ratio. The 4th place squad from AFC North would have WON the AFC south division in the '23 season. So we are conditioned to believe he will find success after transitioning from the WORST division into the very best division. SURE...

Very nice run plays but it takes a lot of OL choreography and is an incorrect strategy with 2 rookies and our sophomore slump player switching sides from last year.
@Steelers_DB4 ай бұрын
The good news is that this play is pretty simple. The entire OL is blocking outside zone, their primary concept, like normal. The only person who has an adjustment is the puller. Atlanta also started a rookie who was changing positions on their OL last year as well.
@blanejohnson90454 ай бұрын
It will all be for not. As a falcons fan, yes you will get a few dominant run games and break some big ones. But you have to have rhythm, balance, and urgency as a play caller, and smith has none of the above. Absolutely trash as a play caller. Perhaps a better run game coordinator or tight ends coach. I will never get over the three years of frustration in Atlanta.
