With Tyler Lockett finally returning to the practice field, I felt it was time to do a film update. For this video, I tracked his 66 targets from his 2016 season and looked at the general trends of his role in the Seahawks’ offense. Since I did this last offseason, his potential change in role was actually of more interest to me. Well after studying his tape, his role was actually largely the same as it was last season.
Based on his tape, a large portion of his role in the Seahawks’ offense was to horizontally stretch the defense. Quick bubble screens made up a good portion of his routes. In many zone based schemes like Alex Gibbs’ for example, teams will use outside zone to move the linebackers. Bubble screens in Seattle’s offense accomplish the same thing.
While his season ended prematurely, it’s important to note that a large portion of his role was exactly the same as it was last year. Since making that video, I was really hoping that they were going to use him in a more diverse way. However, they have players like Doug Baldwin and Jimmy Graham and they recently drafted Amara Darboh out of Michigan. This signals to me that his role and upside will stay relatively capped. As a former 3rd round pick out of Kansas State, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing considering he is heavily utilized on special teams, but I won’t expect him to break 1000 receiving yards any time soon, though.

As part of preseason can you look at how teams offense and defence of the teams will work and what tactics will they use like West Coast and 4-3 defence.

Very well made video. Only criticism is that at 2:17 the go route is actually Paul Richardson and not Baldwin. But the analysis of the plays is well done regardless.

You should break down the the 99 yard TD for the Dolphins and the 97 yard TD for the Jags for your preseason thing. I'm a Pats fan, so I want you to make fun of Cyrus Jones please.

You have great videos , but this is a tunnel screen not a bubble screen. I just saw a coaching video from the University of Oregon and this is how they ran it. Bubble screens are when the WR or RB swing or "bubble" out to have the throw be caught on the run and have speed going into the screen, not a motion down to a tighter split for a quicker throw and then run. The 2nd WR has the #1 CB and the TE or T will "kick out or wall out" to create a "tunnel"

Sorry, in this concept they use the TE to get the #1 CB and #2 WR to get the #2CB. The Oline gets the clean uo or "rat killers" but never the less, this is still a "tunnel" screen design not a bubble. Really like your videos this is just a little constructive criticism. I've learned from playing pro and now onto coaching and self learning from highly experienced coaches.

oqihouqiop Yeah but in game 1 James Bradberry was injured that day he didn't play. He didn't cover Julio, it was bene beneikewe that covered Julio and gave up 300 yards. He got cut. But I'm happy about the development of our cbs, who's ur favorite team?
