Chiefs defense somehow got even better this offseason. Missing your best weapons against them is a death sentence. He didn't play well, that much is obvious, but being shorthanded in playmakers certainly doesn't help.

The problems with your logic is, the defenses are daring the team to run. They aren’t letting him throw downfield That’s why Pacheco and hunt are feasting. Also take a look at the other reason the chiefs own the niners…running and mobile qbs are the Achilles heal of the niner defense. The cardinals which are not that good beat the niners because they have a mobile qb that can improvise as well

@@donovan4222 I don't think that's accurate. The 49ers did a great job of keeping coverage, yet Mahomes managed to get the ball into the hands of his targets. There was only 2 throws by Mahomes that I would argue weren't great throws, and he made those during contact with a defender... His Passer rating was what? 44.4 or something? If you hit your target in the hands, and they tip the ball into the air to a defender...that doesn't mean the QB is playing poorly, even if the stats sheet might indicate that. The 33 yard QB run was so clutch...Not to mention running straight through a defender on the goal line for a TD...perfect, tight, quick, coordinated handoffs...he managed the fuck out of this game and systematically dismantled the 49ers...it just wasn't flashy. The Chiefs are 6-0... and the fact they are winning games in the way they are...there isn't a single team in the entire league that knows how to prepare against them given what they know Mahomes can do through the air as well.

Purdy doesn't suck or anything but his meteoric rise was bound for regression to the mean as the film on him started to accumulate. He's much closer to Kirk Cousins than Joe Montana. Not at all bad for a Mr. Irrelevant but the hype train was getting waaaay out in front of the reality.

He's an average QB with a great coach and system. Put him on the jets and he'd look like Darnold did out there. You can win championships with an average QB but you need some top tier weapons or a top tier defense. It's just not in the cards for the 49ers atm.

If they sign him for $40million, I think it’s doable But they will lose some stars but still have plenty to contend. There still were plays he could have made despite the talent around him. He missed on two should have been touchdowns but they were under thrown. Also he threw the ball directly to the Chiefs twice. If the Niners pay him 60+ million a year it’s over as far as competing for a Super Bowl. Shoot they couldn’t win it all with him making the least amount of money he could make.

That is what I am thinking signing him to a 4 year 40 million contract with 120 guaranteed is pretty solid. If Niners do have a bad season this year, I'd be perfectly fine with it. Hopefully be in the top 12 and trade 3 first rounds for a solid quarterback again. If Purdy wants to be the highest paid quarterback, look at what Dak has done to the Cowboys? Basically, handicap them for years on, don't make the same mistake. Look at Jacksonville, and Miami, don't overspend for an average quarterback and be mediocre.

Also, the FO has been exposed, players know they can make the FO pay them: Williams, Deebo, Aiyuk and CMC already showed the niners will pay. Defenses have now figured out Brock Purdy and have gone to man to man instead of zone and the Niners receivers are slow and can’t create separation! Only a sporadic running game and just too many injuries. Looking at the remaining schedule, I can see the Niners losing six of those games and missing the playoffs. Main thing is that Brock has an ok arm but lacks power for any kind of deep threat and with slow receivers, this offense is now different and predictable.

It looks nice when it works, but he's turnover prone at times. And he's not a fast runner. In the NFL, that gets worse.

Definitely Brock has to get better. I do think that Shanahans tendencies and the right side of the oline keeps them from being special. Whenever they need a stop you bring pressure to the right. The oline had so many penalties the first half of the game that we were completely hamstrung. We can’t advance with this old protection scheme.

Kyles plays are 🐕💩. He has a bunch of WR's who cant beat man coverage even when they're all healthy. He cant scheme guys open against man coverage cuz his plays are based off running the ball, then play action against zone. Purdy is not this elite QB who can rifle balls into tight man coverage so he struggles.

I'm a realistic 49er fan and can say this. Brock does not have NFL arm strength. He consistently under throws deep passes. That pass to cowing would have been a TD if he had the arm strength to hit Cowing on stride. Brock struggles mightily in the Redzone because he does not have the arm strength to fit the ball in those extremely tight windows

They scored 28 with run game, the passing game was locked up (Mahomes looked like ass out there, his highlight play was the equivalent of a fake slide lol). Again, this team is unrecognizable. Our offense has lost the majority of its punch, the offensive line/pass protection is just as bad as last year, defense has regressed, and special teams is one of the worst of the league (even without their injuries).

He is inconsistent. He can’t sustain a drive. He’s a Jimmy G clone at this point. His arm isn’t strong enough to exploit the width of the field so he passes mainly in the middle. Everyone knows it now so they’re laying off the receivers until he throws then they break on the ball and steal it. Like Jimmy he’s also under-throwing’sg the receivers and taking too long to decide to run.
