The bottom line stats give the Jets a claim to that: 60 passing yards allowed vs. 225. But I'm a Jets fan and I'd be stupid to argue that the Broncos defense is ELITE. I was impressed with how they took away the flat all game long. That's good preparation, because the Jets love those little 5 yard yac-intended passes. For the record, trading JFM was NOT popular with the fans. It was to clear cap space, and salary cap stuff is out of my depth, but losing JJ to injury and Reddick's stunt makes it so much worse. Michael Clemons canNOT carry that weight.

@jessejordache1869Ай бұрын
There's a couple of turning points that aren't getting mentioned. The first is a 1st and goal on the 1 where the Jets weren't able to push it into the endzone. Some people are criticizing the coaching staff for not putting in Braelen Allen who's got a bit more of an ability to push the pile than Breece Hall does. I'm not going to say they're wrong. Also, credit to Denver's defense for being EXCELLENT at taking away the flat all game long. Usually a team in the Jets position will attempt a pass one time if they're in four-down territory, but the Jets didn't, and for a very good reason. Those little yac intended plays the Jets love weren't there all game. But first and goal on the 1 should be a touchdown. That's four points right there. The second is the fumble by Rodgers that looked like a down by contact, but replay showed the ball slipping out of Rodgers hands before he was down. Ordinarily Peyton challenges that in a heartbeat, but.... he made a totally boneheaded challenge in the first half, after calling a timeout first, which made it even more of a head-scratcher. I can't even remember what the challenge was because it was so clear (I'm not talking about Garrett Wilson's knee being in bounds/out of bounds -- you're probably not going to win that because unlike a foot, a knee is round at the bottom and there aren't any camera angles to determine what part of his knee was touching the field, but it's worth a flag to check). If Denver is able to challenge the ruling, they get the ball in field goal range with four downs to work with. That's (at least) three points right there. The bottom line is the gap between the Jets and Denver isn't what Las Vegas thought it was, and on a rainy day at the end of a rainy week where everything is waterlogged, you're going to have the ball slipping out of people's hands and people falling down all game long, and kickers are going to miss field goals from ranges they normally make. Broncos allowed 9 points, the Jets allowed 10. The Jets outgained the Broncos but were killed by penalties. But a win is a win, the two teams have identical records now in divisions they share with juggernauts so there are lots of scenarios where they compete for a wild card spot, and Denver's got the tie-breaker. Now on to week 5.

@@alanadamsemsed Clearly is a word people tend to use when they're on shaky ground. Not that one, that was in the second half. The one that had everyone I watched the game with scratching their head was the one challenging Tyler Badie's fumble (how is he, btw?) As for the in bounds call, what part of his knee was touching the turf? Was it the part inside the bounds line, or over the inbounds line? If you can't answer that, you can't overturn the ruling on the field. Knees aren't cleats: they're not flat at the bottom. You can't tell by looking from the top. Elsewhere I said it was worth the flag, but that watching at the time I thought the play was going to stand, because you'd need a replay angle a centimeter high to see whether he was in bounds or not. Had the first ref ruled GW out of bounds, I would expect Salah to challenge it and lose. With that said, your team played well, executed, and had a really well-prepared defense. They deserve the win. But I still stand by my point.

The play at 9:15 I saw as the receiver getting tripped. It's a DPI that never gets called because officials never call DPI on the same player on consecutive 4-down series, so good play by the defender. I think we can assume that the the route doesn't end with "and then fall down". There are three possible opinions 1) there's no interference, Williams just slipped 2) there was interference, and that's bs, or 3)there was interference, but good CB's know that right after they've been called for interference they've got a tiny window where they won't get called, so good play. What you can't do is pretend the ball placement's the issue when the receivers chest is face-down after he tries to cut. Watch it in slow-mo if you need to. The ball is placed for a cut back. Williams is making the exact move that you JUST got on Wilson and Gibson for not making.
