The "Blame" lies squarely with the Eagles Defensive Coordinator who spent the last two weeks watching and coaching the team about these types of weaknesses in the Chiefs line. Honorable Mention to the Eagles Defensive line!

@@gabeeaglesland1378 Oh I'm not taking a thing away from the players. but 20 points were defense/short field. So the KC defense wasnt getting stomped on, Barkley basically did nothing but be a decoy. KC's O-line has been shit all season, a big reason all their games were so close. The Eagles defense capitalized on it, but I would give the credit to the players.

Old guy here. Before the season, the Chiefs resigned coaches, and other key players, but really did not address the tackle position. I asked my brother, “why didn’t they do another 1 year contract with Donovan Smith, since they knew Sumatatiera was a raw rookie talent who needed time and experience to develop?” This was a bad strategy that came back to bite them in the AZZ. Also, after watching some of these clips, it appears that MaHomes regressed back to holding the ball too long, and running around trying to avoid the sack. The Chiefs contained Saquon pretty much, which forced Jalen Hurts to throw, which he did, and he was very GOOD at it. I knew the Chiefs secondary was not as good as last years team, due to the loss of Sneed, and the Eagles took full advantage of it. Because Hurts is a better passer than Lamar Jackson. Just my opinion. As a Chiefs fan this was a disappointing showing by KC, with the exception of their run defense. But man, Philadelphia played to WIN and they were hungry! It showed. Hats off to them and congratulations!

I agree that the Eagles design was trying to keep Mahomes in the pocket. It looked most of the time like the Eagles were literally folding the O- line in half around the center to trap Mahomes. This kept Mahomes in front of them so he could not escape without the O-line holding the players on the edge. Usually, sacking Mahomes once is nothing as he comes back the next play, but the back-to-back sacks rattled him.

The Eagles defense did not blitz Kansas City one single solitary time that entire game. The Eagles defensive line provided all the pressure on Mahomes, The O line never even looked competitive, and aside from managing to limit Saquon Barkley...The Chiefs forgot about literally every other Eagles offensive player. The game with salvageable after the first interception by Mahomes, Born and raised in South Jersey I was on edge all the way until the point total with the time left was impossible for the Chiefs to overcome. The Chiefs failed Mahomes as much or more than Mahomes failed the Chiefs. That was a very unEagles game from start to finish I should know I've been a fan of very long time. KC. You got one, we got one, we will see you in round three if it should happen ever I know one thing for certain just as the Eagles, The Chiefs in that game will look nothing like the Chiefs I saw tonight.

Mahomes played horrible. Again, just goes to show the Chiefs shouldn’t have been there in the first place. There was a few times he had a clean pocket, but still didn’t use it. He held onto the ball way too long at times and tried to make something simple look so hard like he always had. Also, they didn’t run the ball at all. Exposed? Get outta here with that nonsense. The offensive game plan by the Chiefs was dog water from the get go and they made zero adjustments. Not once did they try to run the ball, use quick passes, slants, screens, or anything short with any consistency. When they did do these things they moved the ball relatively easy against the Eagles, but once they got some success they immediately moved away from it and back to the long developing plays. About halfway through the first half Mahomes decided to do too much and it made matters worse resulting in sacks, interceptions, and a ton of pressures. The Eagles defense was much better prepared and executed their game plan to perfection. They earned the win and beat the Chiefs fair and square. They didn't expose anything.

No one is to blame for anything. Teams get degraded over time because Football is a Physical Game that takes a lot out of the Players. A team can not remain invincible for more than 4 or 5 years. The breakdowns and cracks take place along the offense and defensive lines. Teams have to constantly draft those positions. This becomes more problematical if you win a lot because you are relegated to a lower draft pick in each round due to success. It is set up this way on Purpose.

3:47 Great point. I think too many fans are quick to point at the OL, when it's typically a 50/50 share between the QB and the OL, and sometimes it's just entirely the QBs fault. Some of those sacks where Mahomes stepped straight up into the pressure were on him. No reason to climb a clean pocket, especially when he had options. I have been called an idiot in the past for this take, but it was something that really popped up last night. Mahomes is not a good pocket passer. When it comes to playing in time, in structure, he is average at best. Imo, that is the most important aspect of QB play, and Fangio and the Eagles defense did an incredible job holding contain, basically asking Mahomes to beat them from the pocket, and he crumbled. Incredible performance from the Eagles defense.

Summary Version: Patrick Mahomes, not used to the pressure he was feeling, melted down by holding the ball too long and trying to run through phantom gaps in the pocket that weren't there. 3 things.... 1. Eagles are damn good at getting to the QB. 2. The Eagles probably decided they were taking off the kid gloves with Mahomes. Some teams have not been aggressive with him because of the phantom roughing calls and him working to get them. 3. There was so much heat from fans and around the league the past 2 weeks over the refs being biased towards the Chiefs, that the refs could give them gifts (or minimally had to let the teams play). It's a lot easier to get pressure to the QB when you are allowed to touch him. This year Mahomes has been taking advantage of the calls by sliding just as he's going to get hit, slowing down at the last minute as he is going out of bounds so he gets hit, and waiting until the pass rush is close and tossing into coverage (to get either a pass interference or a roughing the passer call). These b/s penalties were taken away in the Super Bowl, and it also changes how he has to play the game.
