The only thing here is that I think we should remember: Ryder’s 10. He likely inherited the Paw Patrol from his parents, and doesn’t realize what he’s doing is wrong. He could have simply been raised that way. So the true villain would be Ryder’s parent(s), or legal guardian.

well the mayor of Adventure bay seems to like him and so he could've changed his Legal age, as he is genius kid, he could've inherited the paw patrol but actually make this plan, maybe his parents meant to do good, but he gained controll over it as there was no legal guardians and not sure if there is any orphanage in adventure bay where he live in since his birth I assume (never really watched the show mostly my brother did and I saw just one of the early movies that was like more episodes in one movie that I took my brother to sooo...) and if there is no grandma/grandpa or anyone to be his legal guardian. for example in Rick and Morty in the latest series in the episode with the light saber we hear the USA president mention votes morty telling him if he was able to vote he would vote for him, and then the President says he can change his legal age, NOW BARE WITH ME I'm NOT from USA so I don't know if it's possible or not. But in Gotham following younger bruce after the well known incident in the theatre in the ally way Bruce later in one of the seasons get's his age legaly changed, and in DC universe Gotham may be a fictional city, but it's still very part of USA, so I assume it's probably a real thing. And since the show is american and the actors of all the citizens, Mayor Ryder etc etc are american we can assume it's on purpose because most of the shows hire a specific voice actor if they wanted it to be for example taken part in U.K or Russia for example, or the voice actors can make the accents. I have no idea if it was stated in the show where Adventure Bay is Located or the Adventure city is located but I'm pretty sure it's just in USA... So it means that they could change Ryder's legal age in this situation where he looses parents but has undeaniably higher intelect than most of the Adults in the series.

I love the idea that all of this was really intended subtle storytelling that the creators put in the show for their own amusement assuming no 5 year old would ever pick up on it and no parent would be paying close enough attention. Then Matpat noticed and publicized it all over the internet.

Maybe all the pups and kittens were ex-members of the Paw Patrol and made all the tech (with the exeption of the Ruff Ruffs) before Sweetie and Claw started using their technology for evil. The kittens were abandoned by Mayor Humdinger, only to come back. Side note: Since the kittens were abandoned, they were so bad at saving people in that one episode due to forgetting how to be good after being abandoned for so long. Sweetie convinced the princess to adopt her and Claw went on his own. Kinda like Rainbow Puppy in Blue's Clues. All the pups in Paw Patrol ( exept The Ruff Ruffs and that pirate pup, forgot his name) were in The Paw Patrol. Whew. That's my longest comment I ever made in a Game/Film/Food/Style Theory video. It is possible that Humdinger told Ryder that the packs were for his own city's cat-based version of the paw patrol (villains do tend lie, after all). Ryder may have made one for that knight pup, assuming that a knight would use it for good, similar thing with sweetie. Keep in mind, Ryder is (presumably) a teenager. and I doubt he goes to school, so he likely doesn't have much experience judging a person's, or dog's, true intentions.

I just realised that when I saw ur comment! Each kitten looks almost exactly like it's matching pup and the have packs which fit their tiny body, thus makes me think that Mayor Humdinger was causing problems in other towns before moving to adventure bay to cause mayhem following the death of the previous construction pup. So maybe Ryder and Humdigger would establish the paw patrol in different towns and then leave once the whole crew died. Idk tho

Coming back to this 8 months later with a counter theory: either sweetie and claw’s tech was made by barkingburg royalty (claw’s tech often malfunctions so it’s probably very old, from back when he was a knight) or Ryder made the other technology on commission or request. Ryder is shown to be. Well. Very trusting lol. Plus he always helps the villain characters when they’re in trouble because that’s just the kinda guy he is. So I think he was commissioned to make other tech before the characters were revealed to be bad. Especially in the case of Sweetie, because the princess of barkingburg is canonically already a huge fan of the paw patrol. She specifically requests Chase to come to the castle to protect the crown. I could see her asking Ryder to make her stuff like a car and a pup pack for her own dog. That also tracks with Sweetie having stuff like a selfie stick lol. Same deal with the kitten catastrophe crew, I think mayor humdinger asked Ryder to make him mini paw patrol outfits and just didn’t tell him what they were for.

I babysit and the kids I watch love Cocomelon. I've watched it so much, I started theorizing about why two brunette parents have 3 kids, but only one brunette. I know it's possible, it's just highly unlikely and the fact that the first born is the only brunette is kinda suspicious. Come to think of it, I’m surprised Ryder’s parents aren’t getting regular visits from Social Services. If you look it up, it was confirmed that Ryder’s parents live in Adventure Bay, they know everything their son is up to, yet they let him. They let their ten year old son act as all of the emergency services, constantly in danger. And they’re fine with it. Honestly, the thing that makes me the most convinced by this theory is that he actually sells merch in the show If he didn't, you would just stock their "buying food" up to "it's a kids show, get over it, of course they have food." But by showing the income streams, it brings it really far into the realm of realism. And so it's not unreasonable to think that Ryder would be concerned with keeping those revenue streams open.

Theory: Ryder didn't actually make the technology for the villainous dogs (Claw, Sweetie, and the Ruff-Ruff Pack), but those dogs were all former members of the Paw Patrol who learned about Ryder's dangerous plans and left the Patrol to create their own technology based off of Ryder's, so they could expose Ryder and stop him.

As a father of a two year old who also has to watch a lot of Paw Patrol, I think there's a reasonable alternative that MatPat didn't consider: the possibility of Ryder's tech being stolen and reverse engineered. Multiple times throughout the series, we see Ryder's tech get stolen. From memory, Sid Swashbuckle steals the pups cars and Humdiggers niece steals and modifies the Paw Patroler. I believe there are other thefts also, though I can't quite remember. Anyway, given how lax Ryder is with the security of his tech, it seems entirely feasible that someone could've stolen, reverse engineered, and sold the tech for themselves - Harold Humdigger for example. He is also a genius inventor, though not on Ryder's level. He either could've invented tech that mimics Ryder's, or reverse engineered Ryder's existing tech.

Humdinger doesn't have any capability to reverse engineer Ryder's tech. He can chuck a bunch of scrap metal together and call it a robot, but it is very fragile and with the slightest bit of damage to it, can end up destroying the whole thing. One time, he uses a remote (that he built by the way) like normal and somehow manages to break it into pieces.

Counter points to this theory: - The people of adventure bay have always been shown to be forgiving, including Ryder. It wouldn't surprise me if Humdinger went to Ryder and asked for pup packs for his cats so he could have his own PAW Patrol for Foggy Bottom then used them to create chaos. Ryder doesn't take them back afterward as he has no control over Foggy Bottom, if something goes wrong there he can't exactly help so he just trusts that Mayor Humdinger won't do it again. - For Claw, it's the same with the Ruff-ruff pack, he has a different style of pup-pack to match his armor, it was probably made by an inventor in the kingdom while he was still a knight there. Plus his presentation of a new theory is mostly so well done. A couple things 1.The villains,(Hundinger,Sweetie,etc) have money, so it isnt impossible that they paid someone to make tech based off Ryder's 2.Ryder gave blueprints to a local company, and the villans got them from there.

Every time MatPat releases a video like this I genuinely wonder if the creators of the show had any intention of this being the actual story because of how undeniable the evidence in this video is. I love that there's about as much evidence as could be possible in a show as lacking in details as this. Like the maximum level of detail that it goes to is all telling the story that the functional tech used by some enemies is identical to the good guys stuff even though others aren't, there's no getting around that design choice. There's pretty much no way they're actually going to reveal Ryder as a bad guy all along in this show for little kids, but the signs are all there thanks to choices they made that don't really have another explanation I can only assume some of the people working on it wanted to throw that twist in for their own enjoyment, something only they would actually be able to recognise, and Mat actually saw it 😅

Given how often he likely has to watch this show, finding lore and coming up with theories is likely the only way he’s staying sane at this point. Being forced to watch a kids show because your child wants to watch it is much different than watching said kids show because you want to watch it. After a while you starting noticing things. Makes it easier to deal with. I know the words to most childrens songs because I work in childcare and dear gods you get sick of them very quickly. Not the Wiggles though for some reason. They never get old, though some of them do very occasionally get stuck in my head. Its the other songs (eg Baby Shark) that get stuck in my head and seemed determind to follow me around outside of work.

The kitty catastrophe crew is easily explained when you consider mayor humdingers nephew, Harold, is a boy genius who's intelligence and mechanical prowess rival that of even Ryder himself. Reverse-engineering a few pup packs to fit kitties isn't that hard for a kid like that. Plus he's shown to be very willing to aid his uncle as long as both their plans line up with each other. Also I figured out who the old construction pup is and, spoiler alert, he's not dead. He's living in adventure city. Ok so remember how in the movie when Chase gets kidnapped and thrown in the obedience school prison? There's a brown, unnamed dog that talks with him and explains his situation a bit. That same dog later is shown later in the final scene of movie to not only have the number to Ryder's pup pad, but also addresses Ryder BY NAME, and alerts the crew of something big going down at the waterfront stating that "we need the Paw Patrol". This dog never met Ryder in the movie, but somehow knows his name AND number? Might be coincidence, sure, but too many boxes get ticked off for it to not be a teeny bit sus...

It's like the dog didn't die, just aged out of service (bigger adult dog=less control/older body/more difficult rescues) but still kept in contact with Ryder as an agent of sorts in adventure city, setting things up for the eventual arrival of the Paw Patrol. Ryder even is a little surprised at the ceremony when his pup pad goes off, saying "I thought I had this thing on silent!". Makes sense that the previous dogs just merely got too old to be pups in the Paw Patrol and instead moved on to being Ryder's own personal secret spys/agents. It's less dark with the pups not dying part, but in my opinion also more dark when you consider they eventually become full grown sleeper agents that answer to Ryder alone.
