I love this. I love this so much because it really does get at the core of the message I was trying to send. The story of sheer faith and perseverance through what seems bleak and “the end of the world” is something I felt wasn’t explored enough in this type of horror, and I love that this is the takeaway. The story of war and PTSD that can cripple someone or make them stronger.. And then a lot of inspiration from old obscure cursed internet videos that scared me as a child.. but the core being that no matter how evil some monster or prison camp guard is, the human spirit will persevere if it really wants to. Thanks so much to Lee and others at FT. Dream come true

Mutsuhiro Watanabe's spirit being behind the Boiled One makes a lot of sense, and it's no surprise someone as vile as himself would return and continuously want to cause fear and pain and terror. He was an unhinged sadist in real life, he'd randomly physically attack and torture American POWs. Sometimes he'd burn letters/pictures of their loved ones or falsely tell them their loved ones are dead just to see their reactions. Sometimes he'd act friendly and kind and give them gifts only to put them on edge when he'd randomly turn violent and antagonistic again. He also died a coward as Zamperini forgave him, so it makes sense for him to come back as this evil entity. His spirit thrived on agony and fear and power.

I love how the newer generations of analog horror are specifically dealing with forgiveness and empathy, like how The Man In The Suit shows how Japan actually has moved on from their nuclear trauma of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and now with The Boiled One Phenomenon where an actual real life soldier forgives their torturer from their past. It's so wholesome and pure, even though packed with terrifying visuals. And to quote Doctornowhere, the human spirit will persevere if it really wants to. Such a good message! It's so good and I hope all these young creators succeed. Thank you to Team Theorist for making an episode of this!!

Honestly, I think the reason why I (and so many others) love The Boiled One Phenomenon so much is because of it’s core message. Remember folks, grief does not shrink or ‘go away’ with time, but rather, life grows around that grief, and it is a journey, not a place to stay :). I think that Zamperini forgiving this horrid, mangled mess that is now Watanabe and still going ‘I forgive you’ is such a befitting and amazing defeat. Uhhh something something Boiled One vs The Indomitable Human Spirit

What's truly incredible is that Louis Zamperini *actually* forgave the real Watanabe as well. Louis actually went and met many of the guards who tormented him and forgave them in person. I think the fact that such an inconceivable thing actually happened in real life is far more incredible than any work of fiction.

You have never seen his real face, his face looks melted because it's distorted on purpose, and the videos have filters, you've never seen its real face. I already tested the legitimacy of it by subjecting myself to a so called unfiltered version of PHEN-228, but it doesn't exist in this world anymore, it was eradicated. The only way we can see a real image of his face is if we make it ourselves, but that wouldn't hold any weight. The pen, paper, and bible needed is only for those easily scared and looking for a sense of security while watching, it also could be for more important people who want no chance of being taken by it. If you find yourself stuck in your own body with only you and PHEN-228, remember how it puts emphasis on the idea that it is only you and it, but it just wants you to think that, so it can feed off of your fear. You don't need to be scared, because you can invite God into your space, He is there, and it doesn't like that.

the concept of forgiveness has been absolutely bombarding me lately. The universe wants to tell me something, I'm sure. My definition of forgiveness isn't saying "its okay what you did. I am allowing you back into my life, despite you hurting me/others. I forgive you and now you have my trust again." No. My idea of forgiveness is being able to look at what someone did. See that they hurt you and/or others and go "I am hurt. I am mad that I was hurt. I didn't want to be hurt. I didn't DESERVE to be hurt. But I will no longer wallow in that sadness. I will not become vengeful and I will not let this take over my life and make me mean and bitter. I see what you did, and I hope you never do that again. I hope that justice finds you and I hope you grow. I hope you see what you did and learn from it. I cannot give you my trust, but I can give you my hope that you become better. That you grow into a person that no longer hurts others. I will not be the one to help you on your journey because I don't deserve to go through being the care giver to someone that hurt me, but I do genuinely wish that you become the best version of yourself." Letting go of the rage, the vengeance, the desire to do harm, that, in my mind, is forgiveness. You don't have to give that person trust again. Or even let them back into your life. Heck! You don't even have to TELL THEM that you forgive them. All you have to do is say it to yourself and mean it. You are never obligated to make the person that hurt YOU feel better. If facing them is what makes YOU feel better, do it. But if not, then don't. And its not about "forgive and forget". Keep the lessons you have learned. Use your experience to avoid possible future red flags and bad situations. It's not about 'getting over it'. Forgiveness is about healing YOU, letting you live in peace by letting go of the rage, not about absolving other's of their crimes. I wish everyone peace. Stay safe my theorist friends!

yeah I've often interpreted it as releasing the death grip someone's harmful actions have on you. you don't have to like them, you don't have to be okay with what they did, you don't have to ever interact with them again, but it does mean accepting what happened and allowing yourself to move forward without the shadow of that person clinging to your ankle. it's not about accepting them for the bad person they are, it has nothing to do with how you feel about them, but rather how you approach what they've done
@RamenBowl2.0

I sort of agree but a bit differently, to me revenge is forgiveness. If someone hurts me I will take my revenge until I can find it in myself to forgive. If I don't take revenge then I would never be able to forgive them and end up just hurting myself
@coltoncole6857
@coltoncole6857 24 күн бұрын
@@RamenBowl2.0 But when will the need for revenge end? You will never know. Their is a reason for the saying, those who seek revenge will need to dig more than one grave. The need for revenge is an insidious poison. Also, what if they disappear and you can never find them again? And you still haven’t forgiven them? You’d still have all that bottle up resentment, no longer having the cause of your pain to exact that revenge on. That will also eat you from the inside out. Sometimes the best way to get back at those that have hurt you to forget they ever existed, because those that have hurt you thrive on the fact that they have left a piece of them in you like a piece of shrapnel that’s been embedded in you festering your wounds. So it’s just best to leave them to their demons, because their actions will put them in a situation they have to face Justice whether it be from others or their own hands. Now live your life, that is the best way to hurt them. 😊
@ShePudding
@ShePudding 24 күн бұрын
It’s hard to be strong enough to let go. The fear you may be hurt again keeps them and the fears/sadness/indignation they brought upon you to the front of your mind. Even when you can let go, sometimes your body can’t. To forgive is not to forget, but to say “you can’t hurt me anymore; I refuse to believe it; you are part of my past. You are only another messed up human worthy of pity. I can move on and be better. I hope you can too, but either way, the time has come to move on. Goodbye, for real.” And to actually believe any of that is… friggin hard. It needs alot of physical and mental distance, and work. Best of luck to all in this thread.

2:45 Just something i want to point out, the definition provided here is not a Cognitohazard, it is an Infohazard, there is slight difference. The difference is that you don't need to know you observed a Cognitohazard for it to be hazardous, you only have to observe it. Meanwhile, with an Infohazard, you actually have to know you have observed it.

Louis Zamperini grew up, lived, and died in my hometown, Torrance CA. He was a pretty incredible man. I met him some time 10-15 years ago shortly before he passed. In Torrance, we have a few things named after him. Anyone in need of inspiriation or just generally interested in niche war stories should check out Louis Zamperini's story. Luois' son is also an incredibly nice man.

Louis Zamparini and Watanabe being the main character inspirations for this is so interesting, because Watanabe targeted Louis so heavily during his captivity. The book "Unbroken" is a pretty good detailed telling of his time in captivity. Also- some of the quotes from the boiled one/Watanabe are real quotes. I believe, but could be wrong, the quote about it just being him and Zamparini is something Watanabe had actually said to Louis, either during or following the captivity

This is the first analog horror to spook me in a while. I didnt fully get the message at first so i really appreciate this video, but i remember hearing the audio of the hijacking with the distorted trumpets and terrifying voice, that sound design was paralyzing. I wanted to have my back to the walls bc i felt like i was surrounded by threats but it felt like the walls, floor, ceiling all had eyes. I felt paranoia i havent felt in years just because of the audio. I couldnt move, i couldnt cover my ears, i couldnt look away. I felt like i was IN the analog horror. I have sensory issues and sounds are a huge trigger for me and this a.h. really put me in the shoes of the victims. I couldn't breathe even when the audio stopped. Luckily i wasnt home alone and my bf tried to comfort me, but i couldnt even call for him to come comfort me. And when i calmed down, i just laughed at the brilliance of the creator. NOTHING has paralyzed me like that audio has. Amber alerts always freak me out really bad, ive muted the audio on my phone so i just get mandatory govt alerts but even they dont do that to me. I was so impressed

Noone can know what you went throught or change it for It’s in the past, so why not shape the future for the better ?
